The receptionist was dumber than box of rocks, she had no Idea what tricare was and what military ID benefit DOD number is. She also stated that they aren't contacting health insurance companies, really? She was very confused. I walked out of the office, i don't put up with dumb people. Note to this health clinic management, please educate your receptionists on Insurance policies and how it works, or at least hire smarter ones with better common sense.

I met with Dr. Gerber and it wasn't the right fit (mostly because I was out-of-network). So why the 5 stars? His team very graciously refunded my appointment fee after I decided that I wouldn't follow up after my initial visit. To me, that's an enormously confident and professional action on the part of Dr. Gerber's office, and worthy of praise and a recommendation to the extent that I can give it. Thumbs up to Denver's Diet Doctor and his team.

Terrible experience. I have only seen him a couple times over the last several years and have yet to be even slightly impressed. I am currently nine months pregnant, asthmatic, and have been suffering from terrible coughing, wheezing, and low oxygen levels. He didn't inquire about my pregnancy, current medications, current symptoms, medical history or anything at all. He listened to my lungs in three places and immediately, without any other information, started writing prescriptions for antibiotics and steroids. He literally spent five minutes with me before sending me on my way with a script. Antibiotics for a virus? Additionally, his practice does not accept my insurance. I checked with his office prior to getting my insurance back in December as to whether he accepted it or not and was told he did. Wrong. I unexpectedly had to pay out of pocket for this visit and was told the range would be $65-$95. I needed medical attention and it was late in the day, so I felt I was out of options, thus I proceeded. When my appointment was complete, I was charged the higher amount of $95. When I asked them to explain the difference between the two costs, she said the $65 is for when he spends five seconds with you and gives you a prescription and the $95 was for when he spends more time. I suppose five minutes is more than the aforementioned five seconds? When I expressed that he didn't spend much time with me, she responded by saying "yeah... that's what everyone says." Really??! And I mustn't leave out that he wrote me a prescription for the wrong medication! There's something wrong with this picture... from start to finish. The quality of care here is seriously concerning and should even be considered malpractice.

If there were a star that reflected negative value then that is what I would have put for this doctor because he truly wasted my time and my money. Here's how: when I called to make my first appointment I was told that I would need to come in fasting so that he could get blood work done. I told the receptionist that I had already had blood work done within the last month and it was a very thorough. she told me that didn't matter and I still needed to come in to get the blood work done. I then asked if I could get the blood drawn before I saw him so that when I saw him we would have something to talk about. She said that's not the way it was done. Though this seemed rather inefficient I acquiesced because, based on his credentials, I really wanted to see him- I had a lot of questions! I showed up for my appointment fasting had a very quick 15 minute appointment with him where he wouldn't answer any of my questions (what kind of doctor won't answer your questions?) because those would get answered after the blood work was done and on my next appointment which would be a counseling session. I tried to show him the blood work that I had done but he would barely look at it and in fact scoffed at some of the tests that I had done saying they weren't necessary but he wouldn't tell me why. I left that appointment feeling quite dismayed. I got a call from the receptionist a few days later saying that based on the results of my blood work he would like me to come in to get my blood re-drawn. I asked again, couldn't I get my blood drawn before I see him and this time she asked for his permission and he gave it. So I got my blood drawn again and made another appointment for what I assumed would be my counseling session where I could finally ask and get my questions answered. I went into the appointment with a bad feeling and I should have trusted my gut and cancelled because the next appointment, if possible, was even worse than the first. He walks in and starts looking through my paperwork and says, "I think the girls may have messed up you should be having a counseling session." I said, "yes that's what I'm here for." he said, "well they only scheduled you for 15 minutes." Are you kidding me?! I drove all the way here for a 15 minute appointment? He asked how far I drove, as if that's relevant to the time I should have with him. Then he says, "well, we'll see if we can't squeeze you in." Squeeze me in? He then proceeds to go get some handouts and comes back in and starts giving me the basics of a ketogenic diet. Bear in mind, I have been following this diet for over four months now and I know all this. I was there to ask more detailed questions and how to tailor the diet to my specific health needs. He gives me the handouts, looks at my blood work and says "I think you're doing all right so I'll see you in two months." And he scooted me out the door. At no point did he ask if I had any questions and when I try to interject with them he would interrupt me so that I couldn't ask it. I have autoimmune issues and I have seen a lot of doctors in my day and with the exception of one doctor who actually took a personal phone call during my appointment I have never been so angry or disappointed in a doctor. Do not waste your time with Dr Gerber!
