Being from Texas normally I would not get BBQ in Las Vegas but I came in to get the Fortress as it is a very unique item you can't find anywhere else. First off this item is way bigger than it looks in pictures. It is a lot of food. Most photos only show the item as it looks when it first comes out, not "unpacked" when you empty the contents inside of the rack of spare ribs so I provided some pictures to show what that looks like. I was able to finish it all by myself but the waitress told me she has been working there 3 years and sells about 25 of them per day and I was the 3rd person she has ever seen that has been able to eat it all solo. She said regularly that 2 or 3 grown men will come in and order it and won't be able to finish it together. To be fair I am training for a full Ironman and had come in to eat straight off an 85 mile bike ride and 6 mile run that I had already done that day. The brisket and sausage were very good by the Texas BBQ standards I am accustomed to, and the sauces were good. The spare ribs were also good. I'd love to come back and try the Waffle Fries and Mac and Cheese standalone. Overall the Fortress was a very unique item and worth coming in. I came by on the Friday before Labor Day around 2pm, and had to wait about 15 minutes for a table, but it was worth it.
I would have rated it 4 stars, as the food was delicious. I had the jive chicken on fries, yum, tasty! What I was put off by was we were asked to wait outside as the pace is understandably busy however, I watched others go in, a man was sat before us and we almost had to wait behind the people ordering to go. I was very hungry and not all happy about this. Then the table we were sat at was right by the door, wobbly and very sticky. Yuck! I was scrunched up against the window as well. So while the food was great, the experience was not that great. But I will go back because the food is just that good!
I literally walked over six miles from my and back to eat at Jessie Rae’s and let me tell you it was well worth it. Ordered the maniac fries with brisket. Wife ordered the two meats and a side. Because it was so good we ordered rib tips and a brisket sandwich to go. Good call God sauce is good Fallen sauce is the best!
What a fantastic BBQ! You would never notice it, sitting in an industrial strip mall location. Low key decor... And superlative BBQ. Huge portions... Pulled pork and brisket to die for. Attentive staff. The God Sauce is a great sauce. Aptly named. Highest recommendation.
I found this place from a food experience creator on TikTok. It came highly recommended and the recommendation was not undeserved. The hole in the wall vibe is awesome, the staff were super friendly, the food was on point delicious. Between my two companions and I, we tried the two meat plate with sliced brisket and pork ribs, the McDowell's rib sandwich love the inside joke and the Fortress. A crown rack of ribs stuffed with waffle fries, Mac and cheese, choice of meat and hot links. Incredible. They have a variety of sauces, but the mustard based sauce is to die for. Won't go anywhere else when in Vegas for BBQ.
Read so much about this place and knew I had to hit it up. Ordered a pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw on it. Also got the butter corn, Mac and cheese and baked beans. The pulled pork sandwich was super moist and the coleslaw just added a nice crunchy texture that went well with the pork. The sauce was definitely a hit, super flavorful. The butter corn was nice and crunchy with a dash of pepper. Definitely the star of the show. The Mac and cheese was just like Kraft Deluxe, nothing super outstanding about it. The baked beans had some brown sugar and pepper to them. Again nothing super special. I would say if you’re coming, try some other sides.
ℤℕ !! We ordered the maniac fries with sausage & chicken & a 3-meat combo smoked chicken, brisket, & ribs. The combo was !!! Meats were cooked to perfection & so delicious . Brisket is in a class by itself- THE BEST I'VE EVER HAD! The maniac fries are ℝ !! I just had one small problem- the chopped chicken that was on the fries had too much fat. After almost every bite, I had to spit that disgusting chicken fat out!! Our server was a very nice young lady who offered to bring me more fries but I declined because the fries tasted so good I couldn't stop eating This is the reason for 4 stars. Also, I wouldn't order the Mac n cheese as a side dish, but it was a perfect compliment to the maniac fries! Aside from that, the food deserves 10 stars!! Portions were texas-sized! Large enough to share . The Alabama white sauce & the #GOD sauce are AMAZING! The restaurant is very small but who cares when the food is THAT good! This will be my pay day take-out spot! When I return I will order the same thing & update my review accordingly.
Highly recommend for a BBQ place in Vegas. Meat falls off the bone, mac-n-cheese was tasty and the sauce adds a nice flavor! I gave it a 4 because I personally like a little meat to stay on the bone; that is how I like to dig into my ribs. Other than that, it was delicious. Girl has a gun on her hip; so don't mess. The only mess you want to make is with the sauce .
man this place is great! all the people are so nice and friendly! the food is amazing! i ordered a double brisket sandwich and it was huge! Brisket was very well seasoned and tasted great. my wife ordered 1/3lb of ribs and it was alot! we really liked the rub on the ribs. all the sides were great. mac and cheese, baked beans, and the waffle fries too! they have several sauces that were good! we will be back!
Really good BBQ meats - definitely worth visiting off the Vegas strip. A particular highlight for me was the hot links and brisket. All the sides were great too to compliment the meats. Friendly and family run. Everything was reasonably priced too compared to what you get on the strip. The god sauce is amazing.
