JMC has been providing quality renovation and remodeling services in our community since 1977. For over 35 years, John MacDougall has built a strong and reliable team of professional and skilled crafts people. In 1994, the company moved to its current headquarters in Parsippany, NJ. This expanded space enabled JMC to open new areas of the business including their showroom, which allows customers a convenient neighborhood place to select finishes, working with the JMC design team for a one-stop shopping experience.

This group of professionals are some of the finest artists I have ever met. We have come to consider them friends and feel very fortunate to have found them. They were very trustworthy and it was a pleasure getting to know the entire staff. In my many years of working with various groups of people this team was the most cohesive. They did a fantastic job removing our existing kitchen and dining room and replacing it with a beautiful new expanded kitchen. They are simply the best out there! Should we ever need any work done they will be the ones to call.

Overall, we have had a very positive experience with JMC. This is now our second major project with them. The quality of their work is top rate and you can tell their employees really care about their work. JMC makes it easy to transform a concept into a finished product with the help of their excellent designer, Tammy. In addition, JMC really goes above and beyond to make sure other areas of your home are kept clean while the work is being performed. We will be using them again in the future and have already recommended them to family & friends.

JMC Kitchen Remodel From project conception to completion, our experience with JMC Home Improvement Specialists of Parsippany was excellent. Every interaction with owner, office staff, site supervisor, and work crews was professional, friendly, and accommodating. Our kitchen footprint did not change, but the definitive 80s almond laminate with wood trim stock cabinets clearly needed replacement, and we got the look and quality we wanted working with this company. JMC owner John MacDougall visited our home and talked about needs, dreams, and options. A visit to the office and showroom gave us the opportunity to meet with Tammy, design expert, who expertly guided us through choices for style, materials, and colors, and soon we were scheduling the four week job to totally demolish our existing kitchen and watch the transformation to the new one. At each stage of the work, demolition, cabinet installation, tile work, plumbing and electrical, we greatly appreciated having one site manager to oversee each crew. Each morning we received a phone call to alert us to the arrival and start time of the day, and without fail, they were there. Our home was treated with care and prepared as well as possible for dust and debris, and at the end of each workday, the entire area was swept and clean when they left. As the job came to its conclusion, there was always a quick response and fix to any of our concerns or problems. At the end of it all, our project came in on time and on budget. We could not be any more pleased with our experience and would highly recommend JMC for any remodeling and construction. Bravo!

Our two bathroom remodels by JMC exceeded our expectations at every step in the process. From design to completion, the JMC team ensured everything went as planned and the assigned project manager was always available and in touch. The design phase allowed us to visit the showroom, see 3D designs and actual products to select from. During construction, the crew was exceptionally polite and maintained a clean and organized work area. The craftsmanship on the tile, carpentry, painting were flawless. Thank you JMC for this wonderful experience and two beautiful bathrooms.

We have previously used JMC for three bathrooms and a major renovation of our kitchen. So we are very familiar with their process and quality. This project involved renovation of a living room with the addition of a fireplace, removal of wall-to-wall carpeting, renovation of the hardwood floors (repair of any damaged wood, staining and refinishing), installation of custom cabinets and floating shelving, and installation of recessed lighting. For those not familiar with the process, it involves a detailed planning stage, followed by a carefully planned implementation. The implementation planning is to ensure time management such that work is going on every day except for inspection days. This has allowed our previous projects and this one to be essentially completed within the original time estimate. At this point I should emphasize that for projects like this in an older house you should expect “stuff to happen” and it’s important to have a good contractor and good carpenters on the job. In this case the issue was installing the fireplace on an internal wall and threading the chimney through the second floor and attic. Our lead carpenter, Tom deserves a “shoutout”, because he was the one who ultimately figured out how to install the chimney with minimal interference on the second floor. We did have a problem with the custom cabinetry, in that the cabinet doors arrived damaged. These were reordered from the manufacturer and had a four-six week delivery time. However the rest of the project was completed on time, and the doors were swapped out later. Bottom line we are very pleased with the work and would recommend JMC for anyone wanting a top quality renovation.
