Best coffee in NYC. Baristas here are fantastic. Very kind, really know their stuff, and make absolutely incredible coffee! The food is very tasty and be sure to try the cortado with the single-origin espresso - delicious. Preferred spot to pick up the latest and greatest in all coffee gear. Check it out!Food: 5/5
I love this place. Always producing some of the best coffee in NYC, both filter and espresso, latte, flat white. You name it! Great lessons. Great products for sale. Go and be happy with your coffee! Sun hits the bench around 1020 if you want to warm up :
Superlative coffee shop with an emphasis on small-batch roasts. The ship has a few fresh pastries and cookies; a few counter stools; and a bench outside. Most of the shop is a research and training facility for the Joe chain of coffee shops: you will see baristas and roasters focused on developing recipes, developing skills, and working with retail partners. Joe Pro has a large selection of coffee beans for sale from roasters around the world, as well as their own coffees. The shop also sells equipment for home coffee preparation.
Loved the whole coffee workshop experience and it’s price friendly. Hopefully they’ll have more series with latte art!
If you're a coffee fiend it's probably a decent hipster-obsessive-about-stimulants kind of place I gather from their postings about tours and classes and all the Breaking Bad-looking paraphernalia. I stopped in on a cold rainy day for a matcha latte with oat mylk. For $6 with tax and tip I got a kid-sized cup, maybe almost when it's grown up it could aspire to be 6 ounces, and grow some matcha flavor.
So good coffee!!! Different options in espresso single origin which is really unusual in NYC! Good books and barista equipment for sell. Staff is really pleasant too.
I was looking for a 7g single basket for my portafilter and they informed me they didn’t have any single baskets. Not the best place for espresso parts. So I proceeded to taste their expensive espresso. It’s “third wave” coffee, meaning the espresso is very different from the balanced, smooth Italian roast. If you drink just the espresso by itself, be aware that this is a very long acidic double shot and it costs $4. Not my thing, as I grew up in Italy drinking Vergnano espressso established in 1876 in my hometown. In Italy the espresso has to be barely bitter, balanced, short, intense but pleasant as an unsweetened drink, with barely any acidity and a roasted perfume. This is not at all what the “gourmet” espresso tastes here, which is like grapefruit juice with double the amount of caffeine than an Italian shot. If you like drinks made from espresso, this might be a good place perhaps. It seems very oriented towards the quality of their coffee, too bad their shot is so aggressive and under roasted.
Great coffee made to order but especially friendly and knowledgeable staff which makes it worth coming back.
Made a nice cup of iced coffee based off of their recommendation. Very clear nutty flavor for a hint of hazelnut because I did not want it too sweet but it did not taste like pure coffee either. It was good! Card reader was down when I went but they just typed the info in manually. Also the ice in my iced coffee was like a chunk of multiple cubes connected together, maybe crack them for aesthetic purposes next time so it isn't like a floating iceberg on my delicious coffee. Lids and stuff are to the left of the register. Sipped it on my way up the street. No mess, not freezing cold. Nice condensate sheen on my iced coffee that was not frostbiting my fingers. Maybe the iceberg method is the way to go, I dunno.
Great coffee options here. Very knowledgeable staff. Highly recommended for the best coffee in the area.
