Service was excellent. Atmosphere was unique, but very comfortable. Our waiter / bartender Andy was great. 

We went for the NY strip steak. As we are steak fans, the steaks were nothing short of perfect.
Quality of the meat exceptional. Locally sourced. 

I am picky with how my steak is to be cooked, and it was exactly how I wanted.

Do yourself a favor and stop in and get the NY strip.

I was expecting so much more from this beautiful restaurant! I gave it 2 stars for the beautiful decor. So let me explain. 
My husband and I had spent the weekend in the area for my birthday. We saw Joe's Steakhouse and thought it would be the perfect place for a early dinner before heading home. We arrived at 1:55. The staff advised us that they were preparing to break down the Sunday  brunch buffet. Since we weren't interested in the brunch, we were seated and given dinner menus. We placed our order right away and the staff continued the break down from brunch. Other patrons came in as we waited. After about 20 minutes our salads were brought to us. A couple that had come in after us had already been served their salads. Before we finished our salads, this other couple had received their meals. I noticed they had red potatoes on their plates, which I had asked for and was told I couldn't get them until after 4pm. After waiting another 40 minutes and still not having our dinners I asked for our check. We had waited long enough. At this point the couple that came in after us had already finished their meal. By this time our server was finally on her way out with our meals. I told her I didn't want them at that point and she said she would box them up to go for me. She discounted our meals, I paid for them and left. Since we were traveling, we had no way to eat them. When we finally were able to, the steaks were not prepared as we had requested. Both were rare. I asked for medium well, hubby likes well done. The steaks were so tough we couldn't even eat them! I was so disappointed and feel as if it was not even worth what I ended up paying. Sorry to say, we will not be returning. I hope others have better experiences.

Joe's steakhouse is just plain good food. We stopped by today for lunch on a beautiful afternoon and had lunch on the patio. The trees were blossoming and it was beautiful. 

I had the buttermilk chicken sammich and others had the ribs and cheeseburger. All our food was served hot and fresh and was delicious. Give them a try.

Wish they had told me it was a buffet for Mother's Day. Food was inedible, staff was fine think our waiter was embarrassed as well about food. Word to owner and GM never over extend on the busiest restaurant day of the year. We had reservations and they had a lot of walk ins. Too much for kitchen to handle. Advice from a chef don't do a buffet if you don't have enough food. Stick to your menu which is fabulous don't charge $25 a head for waffles, potatoes and sausage. Not much meat at your craving station. Will go back but not when you're having a buffet especially on Mother's Day .

Always great.  Patio time.  Great burger and barbecue  ribs,  steaks a staple here.  Skyline Drive - Shenandoah National Park entrance nearby.  Great stop coming or going.
