Went for the total eclipse and watched the park rangers and the monument do an amazing job at handling (record) crowds and being as amenable as possible so everyone would have a great experience. The trails are relatively easy and short, but the park covers so much diverse landscape that the trails all show interesting finds from fossils to the more modern history of a farming family. The only downside is that the there units of the park are pretty spread out (about an hour between parks). They all highlight entirely different elements though, so all are well worth the drive time.

Not my favorite national monument as far as spectacular sights to see, but its free! The painted hills are definitely photo worthy. The paleontology center is the highlight imo. If you or your kids like dinosaurs or natural history the palentology center has a great exhibit and you can watch someone work in the lab on exposing some really big fossils (call ahead for schedule)

It was cute and little but had a lot of specimens on display. There was a window where you could watch technician worked on fossils. There were a nice multi-person restroom available outside the Museum.

Lovely experience, I came here to see Painted Hills and solar eclipse over the park. I wish I have more time to explore more of the park. Definitely will be back next time..

This is a solid day trip from Bend. There are 3 areas to the Fossil beds and doing two of them in one day is feasible. We started at Sheeps foot and then did the painted hills. We liked the painted hills the best.
