The steaks were not worth the price. 1 out of the 3 purchased were delicious, and the Beef Wellington was over seasoned as well as the vegetables on the side. The food took an incredibly long time, but the Ukrainian waitress was super nice and paced everything so we wouldn’t get too hungry. The Lobster Mac and Cheese was good, but cold.
Called and made a reservation for a late night dinner to celebrate our 5 year wedding anniversary. Food was DELICIOUS! We were there at 9 and they closed at 10. Service was fast. Staff were cleaning up for the night as we were eating, but we hurried to get out before 10. Our waitress was nice and attentive. Would definitely go back! Parking: Parking was almost impossible to figure out. The lot across the street is not for this restaurant. There is no street parking. Parking behind the building is for thr John Deere Store. The parking garage was confusing. Definitely need better directions on the website for this issue.
Super friendly waitress, atmosphere is great,. salads were awesome, drinks were great. Bone-in Ribeye was overcooked ordered medium and came medium-well inside and well outside, should have ordered medium-rare. Steak had a strong char flavor that over-powered the meat flavor, which isn't my preference. I expect restaurant steaks to fall short of my own, even at this price, so my expectations are realistic. Good news is the cut of beef was really good and it saved the steak and kept it from being chewy. Still very tender and I ate the whole thing. Crab-stuffed shrimp was also slightly overcooked, but very tasty. Everything else was great.
Pretty good variety on the menu. Food was good, nothing unique or special about flavor or quality. The bread was excellent. The crème brûlée was very good. Coffee is not bad. A little over priced for what you get. Friendly server. - Food 3 stars - dessert 4 stars - overpriced steaks 3.5 total
The food here is delicious! I took a lot of time to choose what I wanted because everything seemed so good. I have to come back and try other things. The ambiance of the place is really nice and cozy.
My wife and I came here for the first time tonight. The food was delicious and the service was wonderful. From the bread, to the toasted raviolis, to the Heart of Italy trio dish, all the food was great. Our server Ashley was very attentive and personable. We live an hour away but will definitely be coming back in the future. Highly recommend.
The sides taste good, but I don’t know why the house salad supposed to be charge $2 dollars more. I have no idea. Sirloin just ok, but I don’t like the meat quality, you can’t expect sirloin taste like rib eye, Hahaha. Over price for the sirloin…Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: YesTakeout: Yes
My husband has been telling me he is going to take me to Johnny's for about a decade. So finally on our 5th anniversary 7/24 we got the chance. Loved the atmosphere, we were sat in a semi private booth by a bar sitting area. Loved the decor, but couldn't help but noticing the amount of dust on the back of the booth. Dust on a black surface, sticks out when eye level, or if the light hits just right. I tried to ignore it, but it made me wonder how clean this restaurant actually is, what best place to get a good look, than the restroom. Well, let me tell you. The woman restroom, was disgusting inside the stall. The wall next to the toilet was splattered with God knows what. Big stall The floor grout had several layers of gunk, and could do with a through deep, deep, deep clean, and a good dusting of the entire restaurant and all the kick nacks regularly. Ok, onto the food. I honestly don't remember what I ordered exactly, but it was a steak, and I did love it. My husband loved his bone in rib eye. We both ordered drinks, I had wine, and he a beer, and we both ordered desert. all food was good.
While this restaurant has an upscale atmosphere, unfortunately, we didn’t feel that the food followed through. Our table ordered the filet trio, the 14 ounce ribeye, and the Parmesan crusted NY strip. All of our steaks were cooked well to the appropriate temperature and looked delicious, but the ribeye was thin, and the Parmesan crust on both the strip and one of the filets was just a little over the top for us. The crust itself just wasn’t what we were expecting and there was quite a lot of it. The garlic mash I had with my strip I thought was pretty good. Creamy, though a bit heavy on the garlic. The others at the table felt it was too much like a purée consistency and not quite a mash. A lot of other reviews say the steaks are overpriced and I have to agree there, especially for the ribeye. The strip was probably the best steak we ordered— a little over an inch thick and tender, but the ribeye was probably 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick and we were questioning whether it was actually a full 14 ounces. The side of lobster mac & cheese, however, was very good. Now, this is being really not-picky here, but I even felt that the Caesar salad was a little lack luster. A majority of the romaine in my salad was slightly brown on the edges, but I really liked the dressing and the croutons. All this being said, this was our first time here. We really can’t speak to the quality of the Italian offerings here, so maybe those dishes really are the stars at this establishment. I can say with certainty, though, that we are unlikely to return for steak. We would maybe consider trying something else here if we’re ever back in the area.
SKIP - go to Duck City or Stevenson’s. We didn’t have the best experience at Ruthie’s but it was a heck of a lot better than this. Actually, you could probably have a better meal at McDonalds. The food is terrible. It’s not the most expensive steak we’ve ever ordered but it’s definitely the most overpriced due to quality and taste. We had to send a steak back we ordered medium rare but received well done. When we got it back, it was extra rare. We gave up and boxed it up. The surf and turf is not tasty either. It was mostly shrimp in the lobster tail and the steaks were smothered in cheese sauce, ruining their flavor. Goat cheese salad was not worth the $6 upgrade. Pictured is Filet Rockefeller and Parmesan Crusted NY Strip Ambiance is terrible. We were seated at the bar. The picture attached is 10pm at night. It was so bright and hot inside the restaurant. The lights so bright are like giant heat lamps. Like someone else mentioned, gnats everywhere also. Nothing like an “upscale” meal with bugs flying around. Service was really bad too. I give this one a little break as I know it is hard to find staff these days. But what staff they had just did not cut it. Our waitress even admitted they were dead tonight and we were still there for 3 hours; excruciatingly slow. Staff spilled every drink they poured. Buss boy did not even wipe down the table next to us he cleared. Took so long for table next to us to even get drinks when seated. We decided to try something new tonight and sorry we did. We will be sticking to the smaller, local restaurants where they pride themselves on good food, great service and ambiance.
