Best ramen on the Northshore! We got the Korean kimchi fries and the tonkotsu ramen. My boyfriend got regular and I got the spicy. The broth is delicious and the noodles are cooked just right. The pork is pretty good, but I did expect more of a brisket texture for the premium upcharge. However, it was still delicious and it’s one of my favorite restaurants in the area. They also have such a great variety of ramune drinks. I just wish they were open more hours, since they are only open from 4pm to 8pm in the evenings and it can be hard to get over here for lunch. Great place and great service.
Amazing Dragon Fruit tea with leachy. Loved the Dim Sum! And both the ramen and glass noodle dishes were amazing! My son and I will definitely be back
A small restaurant with a cozy and fun interior! The ramen and appetizers were absolutely delicious with very generous portions. The staff were extremely friendly, and quite accommodating to food requests. Perfect for anyone that needs a piping hot meal to warm up!
Do you like soup dumplings? YOU NEED TO STOP HERE. The ramen was great but the dim sum was fantastic. The Shanghai soup dumplings were some of the best we've ever had, and we've eaten an embarrassing number of dumplings around the country. The crab Rangoon was fresh and delicious. My only complaint was the cranky server/owner? who made a bunch of sarcastic comments to seemingly everyone in the restaurant, during both of our visits.
received poor service. he threw the menus on the table and just walked away saying nothing. was rude the entire time. the floors were sticky and gross. food was mediocre at best and overpriced. on top of all that my total was $30 ans i tipped cash and my credit card statement says $36. not impressed or happy. will not go back. service really did it for me.
Ate there for the first time tonight. Had their Katsu Chicken Curry Ramen and it was excellent!
While passing through Mandeville on a roadtrip we looked up Asian restaurants and Journey East was highly recommended. With the cold weather, we were looking forward to a nice bowl of soup. When we arrived, there was a special menu outside which listed one of my favorite food, chicken wings korean style - interesting. Who doesn't like chicken wings other than a vegetarian or vegan? I have taken many roadtrips around America just to eat chicken wings. I will have to say that the wings at Journey East are one of the favorites; top 3. The wings were fried perfectly and seasoned and sauced very well; plus they were not greasy. When I got to the last wing after savoring each bite, the explosion was just like the first bite; that's how you know you're having great wings. If I live near by, I would definitely return just for the wings. As much as I was very satisfied with the wings, we did come for the soups. My rule of thumb when trying any new restaurant is to always order the signature item, it is usually the first item listed in the main course. Thank God I am not allergic to any food and have no restrictions; I live to eat! I had the Tonkotsu Ramen, a pork based soup. All I need to say is that I live in New York City, food capital of the world, where there is at least 1 ramen shop in every neighborhood. Journey East ramen can certainly compete with NYC ramen. The icing on the cake was the bubble boba tea. I have never heard of an adult bubble tea; an alcohol infuse boba tea. In my opinion, this is genius! I had to try; I had the Rose Green Tea. I am so glad we stopped into Journey East on our road trip. The next time I am near, I will certainly stop by again. It is also very important to know if Journey East is consistent too.
Wow! So happy I found this place. The food was phenomenal. I had the tonkatsu ramen and it had such a rich flavor, the pork was fall apart tender. The customer service was great and the owner was nice. I’m coming back soon! Edit: If you like spicy definitely try the spicy Korean tonkatsu. The chicken wings are a must! They are always sooo crisp and delicious.
I've been wanting to come here for a very long time. Ever since someone mentioned a ramen/noodle bar on the Northshore. As u can assume driving an hr to Jinyas reviewed in Baton rouge or quickly Asian fusion Cafe reviewed d'ibervile isn't always the best option when you want to pretend to be a hungry Naruto uzumaki. There was some price online that said a bowl of Tonkotsu was 18$, false, which scared me off for a while. Bit the bullet and drove in after work. Small homely place, with an Asian side loved the cats with moving arms and the DragonBall z / super statues on a bookshelf near the register. Having eaten ramen from a few places some nice others not so much. I was pleasantly surprised the ramen here from the one offering I had the classic Tonkotsu was creamy and delicious with the egg done right some places do it wrong with it hard in the middle vs creamy. The appetizer of bang bang shrimp was excellent on the bed of hard noodles. I didn't interact with staff other than a courteous waitress, to be expected during covid. But I will be coming back to try the dumplings and some of the other ramen mixtures. Its not overdone or extravagant as some of the bars I'm desperately wanting to go to NihonJapan for. But it feels RIGHT for the pricing and gives a cosy Cafe feel Review has clear menu pricing and as more dishes are tried I will add. SO HAPPY TO HAVE RAMEN THIS CLOSE TO HOME! Trying some of the specials here are generally worth it. The takiyaki for example was amazing
Absolutely fantastic experience. Had never had Ramen this way before. Place was crazy busy but we were well attended. Can't wait to go back!Dine in: YesTakeout: Yes
