I went for my first appointment today and was told that they no longer accepted my insurance. I had sent all of my information, including the insurance information, which they said they did accept at that time, 7 to 10 days prior to my appointment. They told me that they had a new doctor on board and that he was not accepting my insurance.  I asked why they had not taken the time to notify me and they said they did not know why - they just had not done so. I asked if they had notified the other patients that would be affected by this change, and she said no, not to her knowledge. They did tell me that they would allow me to see their nurse practitioner. I declined. I asked how would I benefit from seeing this person (which they would be well paid for) and she said that I would not really benefit.  There are some serious ethical issues here including possibly being discriminated against because I found my insurance through the ACA Florida Healthcare Exchange.
