After swimming from Gills Rock to the Washington Island marina we were greeted at the shore by "Bill" who was literally the grumpiest man on earth. We had 2 open water swimmers and 2 jet skis. He would not allow us to park the jet skis anywhere in the area and told us the restaurant was not open - even though it was - as we could see because when I entered I saw him in the kitchen! Some welcoming committee. Never ate there and never will! Washington Island residents: Beware, Bill is chasing your tourists away!

Kap can seem a bit gruff, but give him a chance. Nice place. Showers could use a bit of attention. We like Kaps.

Small Marina on the southside of Washington Island at the entrance to Detroit Harbor. Nice family run marina.

The old guy is racist and the fireworks suck. The food is ok but your better off just going to the red cup or that new breakfast cafe in town.

Spent the night there after docking our sailboat in the marina.  We found the family operation very helpful and accommodating.
