Story

Kenner Army Health Clinic (formerly, Kenner Army Community Hospital) is the primary health care facility for Fort Lee, Virginia. It was first opened as a hospital on March 30, 1941, with 871 beds, and was expanded to 2,000 beds by October 1942. On June 7, 1944, the it was designated a regional hospital and remained in that status until it was downsized to 1,100 beds in 1947.
When Camp Lee was renamed in 1950 and designated Fort Lee, the hospital became US Army Hospital, Fort Lee, and was downsized to 200 beds. It continued to operate in the World War II wooden buildings until a new hospital opened on April 16, 1962. The Kenner Army Hospital was named for Major General Albert W. Kenner and had a capacity of 100 beds, expandable to 200. A new outpatient wing was added in 1976, followed by a full renovation in 1977.
In 1985, the hospital received a Presidential Unit Citation for its use of Medical Unit Self-Contained Transportable (MUST) hospital operating room equipment during a renovation of the facility’s operating rooms. The facility received its second citation in 1990-91 in recognition of support rendered during the deployment and subsequent demobilization of troops that participated in Desert Shield/Desert Storm.
In July 1995, the hospital was targeted for downsizing by the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) commission, and had its inpatient and emergency department services eliminated in 1996. As a result, the hospital was officially redesignated Kenner Army Health Clinic on October 1, 1996.

I will say after the recent change in sick call it has been so much smoother. There are three providers there and the sorting of patients is more effective. Only complaint I have is access to care. I do not like that appointments are so hard to come by.

I'd rather not go there but as a retiree its cost effective. I never get to see my primary physician so the relationship with a provider is non existent. So sad there are these many complaints but the DOD hasn't taken notice. Called to make an appointment and was treated so rude by Ms. Lewis who put me on hold mid explanation of my complaint and was very nasty when I questioned her on it. I hate having to use this facility.

Hands down the WORST facility my family has ever been to. The Pharmacy wait time is out of control, no one communicates in Pediatrics and complaints are not taken seriously. We are about to move and could not be happier!

The staff does not care, they violate HIPA, it takes 2 mo to get an appointment even for something dire and I even submitted an ICE complaint online and never received a response even after leaving my name email and phone number with a detailed description of the poor care I received. There are sick call hours but not one provider working during those hours so I'm not sure what that time in the morning is for. This facility should be shut down. It seemed as though the patient was an inconvenience to the staff. I felt very uncomfortable during my visit and when I had to go back for a follow up I dreaded going. Even calling no one is very helpful and they will connect you from number to number and then just hang up on you.

I've always had great care here. The pharmacy wait is very long though.
