I cannot recommend this facility. The nurses are too overworked to do their jobs properly. My son, age 35, was both on the 5th and the 6th floor. The fifth floor smells like dirty diapers. Either they aren't changing patients soon enough or they aren't disposing of the waste properly. When a call button is pushed it seems to be ignored. The nurses appear to make rounds only on their timeline. This is true on both floors. I actually found no fault with the rooms. They were clean which was an important thing. The bedding was changed daily. I found no evidence that they bathed my son or attempted to keep him clean, even when he could not do this for himself, however. He had some blood on him and this stayed on him and on his clothes. The sixth floor is not acting as a medical floor. My son was moved up to the sixth floor and then was not getting the medical attention he needed. He was administered Ativan by Kindred (unbeknownst to us) for six days. He was also taking Morphine for pain as prescribed. The two medications have a serious drug interaction. By the sixth day our son was very seriously ill, having difficulty breathing, was incoherent, emotionally unstable and physically aggressive. Please be aware that your loved one doesn't have a similar reaction. It can be life threatening. After just 10 days at Kindred in Hammond my son has returned to Northwestern Medical Center in Chicago. We can only pray that no more damage to his body was done during his stay here.

My mother recently was admitted to Kindred and all I can say is wonderful things about the staff and care. I Love them! Staff was friendly and attentive to my mother's needs. Located in St Margaret's hospital found the hospital very clean. Food was ok, but it's the care I was impressed with. Rapid response to any concerns. Call lights answered promptly. For obvious reasons my mother was there for a serious medical condition and was amazed when she was able to go home after her stay. Also, thank you to the therapy team, top notch. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!! I would recommend this hospital to anyone.

Was a very nice place, and was really impressed with the therapy that I received it was really what I was looking for and would recommend kindred to anyone looking for physical therapy.
