It was fine. Lots of good silly books. I just like used book stores better.

The bookstore store is great, service is friendly but the selection has gone down in the last five years. The stationary store used to carry things you could not easily find anywhere else, but now it's full of only the most easily accessible things and at prices up to 50% higher than online. It's become more of a school supplies store than a delightful place you could get all sorts of creative stationaries. The downstairs bookstore, where they keep the manga, magazines and game paraphernalia seems reasonably stocked. I can't comment on how up to trends it is. Overall It's an okay destination to go on the side, but I will no longer be able to justify a trip through city traffic to go. If you are making a whole day of it, or going for the excellent okonomiyaki, it's worth the trip. Double so on the festival days.

This store is awesome, I go there at least once a month and always go to the floor at the bottom since is where I get art books added to my collection. One of the things I like about this place is they have opened books so you can go through the pages to see the content and make a decision for a purchase unlike Barnes and Noble where you are expected to pay full price for opened and used books by buyers. By the way, I love B&N. Aside from art books, some translated to English and others in Japanese, they also sell manga, American books from Disney, Pixar, etc.

Lots of Japanese books but definitely more expensive than you can find online. They also have a great manga section downstairs.
