Story

Kip's Cafe was first opened in El Cajon more than half of a century ago since 1956. You can find delectable Chinese food, Japanane food and sushi under one roof. Moved out for a few years and has been relocated back in El Cajon since 2012.

I have been going to Kip's for over 15 years. It is a great place to eat. Serves Japanese/Chinese foods and is vegetarian friendly. Try the veggie delight and add tofu. Yakisoba is also awesome.

Not bad. We like to get sushi from Kip's. They have a lot of choices, from Japanese to Chinese and I think Korean or Thi, so everyone can find something they like. The family meals are generous.

I was in el cajon and was craving Chinese food. After a quick Google search I found Kip's Cafe. Which had a 4 star rating on google and was close by. Seemed good. The fact that they served mutiple types of Asian cuisine should have been a red flag for me but it wasn't and my SO and I were hungry and decided to give it a shot. When we arrived the parking lot was full. Ok good sign. But when we got inside I noticed there were very few asian people eating there and the staff seemed predominantly white. That should have been a big red flag, but it was over looked and we were seated. We sat outside as the main dining room seemed small and stuffy. We ordered a full range of food starting with a couple appetizers, some ramen and a dish from the lunch menu. The service was great. But the food needed improvement. Flavor improvement. The appetizers were nice but rather small. It was the main dishes that were the problem. I've had great ramen here in San Diego. But this was El Cajon. The ramen I had was bland and hardly hot. The tea we got was hotter than the ramen. It was terrible. My SO favored much worse, he said that his food was so bland and tasteless that he didn't want to eat it. I ended up giving him some of the ramen I ordered. His dish was a pork dish and it was soupy and bland. Both dishes should have been hotter (in temperature) than how they were served. So after a barely eaten pork dish and the soup left in the ramen bowl, we both left unsatisfied. AVOID THIS PLACE. IT IS BLAND AND FLAVORLESS.

Food is good, so 3 stars...service is horible. They need to hire people that are alive.
