For the 1st timer, it's not clear that it is one of those places that have a unique ordering system. The brewery side operates separate from the restaurant, so you have to flag down a waitress to get service and get the beverages at the bar on a separate tab. That being said, the service was friendly and quick. The food was creative and decent.
The bar/dinner locates next to the river. Come on a good day with sunshine grab a drink, find a spot outdoor and enjoy the view. The pork chop is delicious but too meaty, might need some pickles or radish to balance it a bit. There are a wide range of beer and spirits for you to choose. You have to order at least one drink the food. Not a big fan of alcohol, so I pick a cider, not too bad.
Really enjoyed kitchen brigade and stompbox brewery. Really cool that 2 businesses can work well together. THE Burger is a must. It was very juicy and the fries were awesome. Will return for sure
Ordered while visiting Stompbox. I was happy to see a kitchen! The chicken & grits was delicious. Also ordered a sausage entree that was too rich/buttery to finish. And that almost never happens!
Great food and drinks! The burger was great! Definitely will go back and try again : The menu was minimal which is not bad : Just wished there was substitute for some items with chorizo :
the pork tomahawk with the brown butter speatzels was exceptional! the roasted veggies was also delicious! we had a nice chat with the Chef. really nice people, really good food!
Overall pretty poor experience. We started with an Appetizer of Chicken Wings and those were actually pretty good. Good sauce, well cooked and very tasty. I ordered a Burger and my wife ordered the Chicken and Grits. My burger was far undercooked and more raw than rare in the middle and cold. Chicken and Grits had a "chemical" taste to it and was immediately off-putting. Finally, beware paying with Credit Card or Debit Card. We were overcharged on our tip and didn't find out until a week later when we checked our statement. We will never go back based on the multiple issues.
Stopped here on a whim from out of town and we are so so glad we did. The food was so incredible and different. The veggie burger was one of the best I’ve ever had! Our service was super great and we loved that we also got to pair our food with great craft beer!
A few weeks ago, some friends of mine originally from the area were back in town and we chose the Stompbox Brewing/Kitchen Brigade space to sit down and catch up. I'd driven by the space countless times on the way down to the Farmer's Market over the spring and summer months but hadn't actually stopped in before. After our visit, I can confidently say I'm glad we chose this space to catch up. Parking was super easy - free parking lots are both immediately adjacent to the space and right across River Drive. The space itself is really cozy and, if I may use the word, intimate. It's really not that large at all, has a fairly small bar area, and the seating is quite varied. There's a choice of larger high-top tables, bar seating, and a few booths. When we arrived, the server was quick to get our drink orders and menus. I wasn't aware of the French/German theme of the menu, but everything we ordered between the three of us was quite tasty. My friends had spaetzel and a burger, I just munched on some frittes fried potato strips. I definitely need to stop back here for a full meal at some point in the future! I'm looking forward to returning here sometime in the future, perhaps on the way to or returning from the Freight House Farmer's Market in a few months. This really is a great space with both good drinks and unique food. Thanks for being a great part of downtown Davenport Kitchen Brigade! Kid-friendliness: This is kind of a bar type area. You could probably bring your kids out if it were early enough. Nobody seemed anti-child at the time we were here. Parking: There's some parking immediately adjacent to the space and more across River Drive to the south.
By far the best burger East of Des Moines. I had heard the hype and was not disappointed. We had visited Stompbox and Kitchen Brigade previously but only enjoyed the tasty beer. We have already agreed to fit this into our Saturday rotation.
