For over 80 years the Kornegay Family has been blessed and honored to serve the residents of Kershaw County. The funeral home was founded in 1931 by C. Grainger Kornegay & Saluda Dunbar Kornegay. The Kornegay family opened a funeral home to serve the Lugoff-Elgin community in 1985. In 1998 a new chapel was added to the Camden location. In 2009, Kornegay Funeral Home opened a new funeral home in Lugoff, along with a Crematory. The Crematory is the only one located in Kershaw County. In 2009, Johnny, Van, & Grainger teamed with Greg Moseley to open Kornegay&Moseley Funeral Home and Crematory Service on Hard Scrabble Road to serve the residents of Columbia. Kornegay and Moseley is the only family owned and operated funeral home in the North-East Columbia area. The funeral home continues to operate on the words of Saluda Dunbar Kornegay, “always do things for others the way you would want them done for yourself.” This is what we have built our reputation on for five generations and is still our philosophy today.
