What a special place. This was my first time eating here. The food was . The hostess and wait staff were exceptional! They were so attentive and engaging. The atmosphere was inviting and cozy. I cannot wait to eat here again.Food: 5/5
Hidden Gem found on the way to the mountains! This family owned business was romantic at night with a large patio and working heaters overhead. Meatballs were homemade and contained yummy pine nuts. The spaghetti tasted homemade too, or just higher quality than usual Italian restaurants. Prawns on the linguini tottomare were gigantic. You can tell this family cares a lot about the quality of their dishes and making customers happy. Great service to top it off! Wheelchair accessibility: Long ramp available on the way up from parking lot.
Absolutely delicious, authentic Sicilian food! The pesto ravioli is phenomenal, and the wine selection is stellar. The service was super fast and attentive as well. We arrived on a busy Saturday night, and were seated quickly, and our food was delivered remarkably fast. I highly recommend this place!
I would have given them 5 stars but the waitress messed up 3 times with us. Amazingly surprised how good the food was and the wine list they had. Great atmosphere and location. If you’re looking for good affordable Italian food, check out La Fornaretta.
What's in Newcastle? Awesome Italian. More specifically, Sicilian. I had Sicilian friends who invited me to their family home meals when I was young. This was it. Loud. Flowing wine. Generous portions of yummy fresh food. Caprese was fresh. Tomatoes tasted like it was just picked from the vine. Olive oil poured over the mazzarella cheese was rich, deep, nutty, and buttery, much tastier than olive oil provided with bread. Speaking of bread, it was warm and fresh like it should be. Spinach salad was well tossed and balanced. The cheese was ricotta salata, something I never really tasted before like it. It was almost like eating a cracker made of pure cheese. The pan seared halibut was cooked like how my grandma used to cook her fish! Crunch on the skin side and soft on the meat side. Since I asked for no salt, the fish was very sweet and flavorful. Seafood pasta came with linguine ardente in tomato sauce with garlic slices. I loved the homemade Tiramisu with rich cream and good espresso. Stephanie was very attentive and friendly, and please keep it that way! Molto bene!
Small town mom and pop Italian restaurant. My daughter and son in law love this place and we do too. Our 100 percent Italian daughter in law says this place is fantastic home made Italian food at its best. You start with there bread. Wow, best ever. Caesar salad very good and our main courses were really amazing. Small town and you get a small restaurant. But still very nice for inside or outside dinning with heaters. You will love it. Staff and owner were super friendly and they work hard. Keep it up guys, we will be back often. Want to get there pizza next time. The ones I saw on other tables were loaded.
Cool old-school spot, been here twice. Good service and wine list. Pizza is okay, carbona is good, but I'm not a big fan of the onion in the sauce. Very creamy and savory, and the noodles were perfectly al dente. The affogato is very good. Plating is great. Bread and oil/vinegar is a nice touch. I like how sprawled out the location is. Entrance is around the back, hard to find. Definitely a nice place for an occasion, real crowd pleaser.
We enjoyed La Fornaretta! The service was fantastic, our server was very personable and prompt. The local wine and beer selection was pretty good. The food was all very high quality, the cioppino was particularly good, as was the pesto ravioli. The fettuccine alaksa was decent but found the smoked salmon to be a bit overpowering. Any of their menu items with the tomato sauce were fantastic, it was obvious the tomato sauce was freshly prepared. The pizza was good as well and much larger than we expected. Overall a very nice experience.
Very good Italian food restaurant. I've never been here before and this was a nice experience in the small town of Newcastle. The restaurant was nestled in a old town environment. The service was decent, I slight slow tonight probably cuz they were busier than normal. The starter bread is really good and was out when we arrived and it took many attempts to get more bread because it was still being made. But once we got it it was to die for.
We first visited La Fornaretta in Old Town Pasadena many years ago when we lived in SoCal. When it disappeared we were stunned. Imagine our surprise when we moved to Lincoln and discovered its "new" location. Still great food, excellent service and even though a different ambience than Old Town, sitting on the porch was a very nice experience. This is a stop for any Italian food lover.
