I hired Landis to do the design and construction for my rear deck and a couple of bathrooms, as well as do extensive repairs on the exterior of the house.  I had a great experience from start to finish, from my initial meeting with Ethan who was informative, knowledgeable, and took the time to listen to all of my wants/needs. My designer/architect was Tahani and always had very professional and complete drawings for me to wirk with.The construction crew showed up ready to work every day and Andrew kept me up to date on the progress.
I cannot say enough about the team over at Landis! From start to finish they answered every question I had, were very responsive and  professional, and worked hard to stay within my budget. Every one I dealt with could not have been more professional. Even the neighbors loved the guys who worked on the house.  The communication from their entire team was constant and I never felt like I was out of the loop. Landis should be your first and only call for a renovation project!

Landis Architects/Builders worked with us start to finish on a two-phase major remodeling project of a landmark historic Kalorama townhouse. Working closely with us and our design team, their ideas, work product, responsiveness and ongoing service were absolutely fantastic.  When faced with the inevitable challenges of a century-old house they understand the structural issues and responded with specialized solutions that gave us a real showplace.  More importantly the house is functional and livable.  Highest recommendation.

I called Landis Builders after I saw a beautiful renovation they did in Dupont Circle.  Ethan Landis took the time to discuss several options for renovating/converting my small apartment building - in the end, I have more research to do. HOWEVER, I was so impressed that I had to write a review anyway....   This guy is extremely knowledgeable and comes across as very trustworthy and honest. He would be the FIRST person I would call if I need a top-notch renovation.

We have hired Landis for various projects since 2006. From our backyard patio over garage and stone wall to our front steps and our rear room addition, they have done an extensive amount of work in our house. Carlos Marin was very skillful and professional with his carpentry work, and Ethan Landis made sure the process was smooth. They listen, are easy to talk to, responsive, interested in our home, and are proud of the quality of their work. They also have great coffee mugs!! 

They are sensitive to the architecture of the house as well, and they know how to apply research knowledge and experience to achieve the right look.

We hired Landis to do a full renovation of our house. They were able to provide with a wonderful finished product in just 6 months, everything from our driveway to our attic was renovated on some level.  We added a new kitchen and master bedroom and the whole thing is beautiful - the kitchen of my dreams!  Landis is professional and easy to work with - always responsive and willing to talk through an issue or a change during the work. Neighbors also appreciated the attention to community.  Carlos Rodriguez was here everyday and paid attention to everything, as well as tidying up every night - he even went around with flyers to all the neighbors before work started to let them know who they could contact if they had an issue.  Landis also stands by their work - our retaining walls started to lean after three years and they came back and re-did them after determining the cause of the problem.  I would highly recommend Landis for any your reconstruction needs.
