Las Vegas Day School was founded by Jack and Helen Daseler in 1961 and is the first non-sectarian, non-denominational private school established in Nevada.
Our school offers students numerous advantages starting first and foremost with a traditional environment and a stimulating academic program with emphasis on the three R’s, work and study habits as well as discipline. The school encourages parent involvement and communication as well as offers a safe and fully secure campus in which children can feel comfortable, happy and enjoy the learning process.
Parents naturally question the value of private school education. There is always the ongoing debate as to whether or not private education is worth it. Here is what high school administrators and parents of graduates have to say about Las Vegas Day School:
“Some of our finest upper school students have come from prior educations at Las Vegas Day School. Not surprisingly, all of them have been confident, motivated, energized, and extremely kind and courteous.”
—Carolyn Goodman, The Meadows School Founder and Trustee Emeritus
“Las Vegas Day School provided a safe and structured middle school experience which nurtured academic excellence and prepared our children well for high school AP courses and college entrance exams.”
—Mary and Robert Kinas, parents of three LVDS graduates.
“Las Vegas Day School does an excellent job of preparing their students for the rigorous academics at Bishop Gorman High School. LVDS students tend to be very successful in both Honors and Scholars programs, and they also bring much to our community by jumping in headfirst into student life and getting involved in many of our clubs, organizations, athletic teams and Campus Ministry efforts.”
—Tracy Goode, Bishop Gorman High School Assistant Principal for Admissions and Student Services
Many parents may not know that we usually have about twenty-five percent of our seventh and eighth graders who score above the average college bound senior on the SAT or ACT test each year. This is an amazing accomplishment! These tests are usually reserved for high school juniors and seniors about to start college. It is our feeling that all of our students are college bound - whether it is a tier one college or a small liberal arts university. LVDS is especially proud to have graduates attend some of the finest colleges and universities in the country including Stanford, Northwestern, Yale, MIT, Georgetown, Dartmouth, Boston College, SMU, BYU, Santa Clara, USC, UCLA and Harvard. More importantly, our graduates in college consistently report back to us that the background they received at LVDS was what made the difference.
Private school education at Las Vegas Day School is an invaluable investment in the future that reaps its rewards long after the elementary and middle school years end. The preparation that a solid education provides in the developmental years sets the foundation for future success in high school, college and in life.
Give your child every advantage. It is worth it!
The mission of Las Vegas Day School is to foster each individual student to grow and develop as a self-assured, dedicated learner, who will shape the future of our society.
