We are active in our community, and committed to making the world better by promoting the many benefits of making music. We teach lessons, sell, rent and expertly repair instruments. They failed to call when they said they would as I always experience here so I called in and they said I could come the next day to pick it up. Then suddenly the owner said they would not rent me a Tenor Sax because I am only in town on the weekends and don't live in La Crosse, even though we have rented my kid's instruments from them for five years, though they don't believe me even in their response below because his last name is different (more of their general and needless distrust of people on display here) and he was in the store with me that day. It seems very short sighted of them considering the $43K Yamaha I tried my Chopin Preludes on the previous weekend, and liked very much to the point of inquiring further. They literally said go elsewhere.  I guess I will have to return all of the sax books they gladly sold me. Poor follow through with confusing and inconsistent service are just a thing you often get in Wisconsin and the Midwest in general. You get used to it living here and I actually love this place and want to do business with them, so it is a shame but I told them I respected their concerns about a sax getting legs. I am sure it happens. I cancelled plans to work with their teacher as well. My career as a sax player is off to a rough start thanks to them! They really seem to be discouraging and have no interest in renting to adult beginners, even ones that already play other instruments at an advanced level. They would have made this work if they did. I could easily buy a sax. I just want to rent to be sure I like it and it works for my embouchre. We will take all of our family's music business outside the area per their request.

Instrument wasn't ready when promised.
However, after learning of my disappointment, the owner reached out to me to discuss the issue. He was a very pleasant gentleman and if I need any instrument in the future I will try Leithold again.

What a great store and service. I'm a complete beginner, and I was making  a relatively inexpensive purchase, but the owner took the time to talk to me about my options. I can tell he has a great love of music and wants to help others nurture their love of it too. I recommend checking out Leithold Music if you are thinking of buying an instrument or other related purchase.
