We are located in the Alameda Hotel. We have cold beer, a pool table, lotto, cheap shots, karaoke, live music, and a great clientele!
The Lemon Tree looks today as it did back in the 50's. Back then it was called La Traverna. With its rock wall face, one entry door, and lack of windows, it's Alameda's only surviving bar that houses its patrons in anonymity. Walk in the door in the daytime, and you will find an eclectic handful of regulars; the wise ones, the blue collar types that range from sea captains to skilled handymen to the long time organization of Clampers, all have called The Lemon Tree their home for forty plus years.
The bar being part of the Alameda Hotel which was built in the 1920's, and the only one closest to the Oakland Airport, hosted the regular clientele that consisted of many travelers, including airline captains, stewardesses, and some famous characters including Errol Flynn, W.C. Fields, and Amelia Earhart.
We are now pushing into over sixty years of serving the surrounding neighborhood, and we are located only two blocks from Park St. Walk in the door at night, and you will find a diverse crowd, ranging in ages, enjoying a cocktail either singing karaoke, playing pool or rocking out to live music. We get lots of foot traffic, so don't let the lack of cars out front fool you!
Cheers - The Lemon Tree
