About

We are located in the Alameda Hotel. We have cold beer, a pool table, lotto, cheap shots, karaoke, live music, and a great clientele!

Story

The Lemon Tree looks today as it did back in the 50's. Back then it was called La Traverna. With its rock wall face, one entry door, and lack of windows, it's Alameda's only surviving bar that houses its patrons in anonymity. Walk in the door in the daytime, and you will find an eclectic handful of regulars; the wise ones, the blue collar types that range from sea captains to skilled handymen to the long time organization of Clampers, all have called The Lemon Tree their home for forty plus years.

The bar being part of the Alameda Hotel which was built in the 1920's, and the only one closest to the Oakland Airport, hosted the regular clientele that consisted of many travelers, including airline captains, stewardesses, and some famous characters including Errol Flynn, W.C. Fields, and Amelia Earhart.

We are now pushing into over sixty years of serving the surrounding neighborhood, and we are located only two blocks from Park St. Walk in the door at night, and you will find a diverse crowd, ranging in ages, enjoying a cocktail either singing karaoke, playing pool or rocking out to live music. We get lots of foot traffic, so don't let the lack of cars out front fool you!

Cheers - The Lemon Tree

It was fairly loud and from the outset seemed to be almost divey, but after spending some time there with fellow locals, I started to feel more at ease. The bartender was fabulous (didn't get his name unfortunately) and the crowd was fun loving and quite pleasant. Maybe not my scene normally, but overall decent experience and good memory :)

Great Alameda dive. Reasonably priced drinks and pool. Interesting crowd. Two thumbs up.

4/7/17 After picking up my Oakland Running Fest packet in Oakland, my boyfriend and I went to Alameda for some fun. We stopped at a cute craft beer store and then noticed this little bar next store. We went in for a drink and a shot of Schnapps (beer + shot combination = $5)!! There was such a mixed crowd - and I got a very good vibe from everyone. The bartender was friendly too, and had good music playing with free potato wedges sitting out (that were really good)!! I'd totally make this place my hangout if I was local.
