Story

Lindemann Chimney Service has been servicing Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin since 1969. We were founded by former fire captain Gary Lindemann when he saw the immediate local need for chimney and fireplace safety.

I should have posted this several years ago when I contracted with Lindeman to look at and correct my leaking chimney. Prompt response. They proposed that 2 new flues, limited tuckpointing, waterproofing and new caulk would correct the issue. The leaking stopped for 2 seasons and then it returned. We called Lindeman, and they sent someone out to look at it. They made photographs of my eaves and roof and firmly stated the issue was with my roof. Trouble with that diagnosis was that the water would have to enter under my eave, drip down my attic wall, travel 10 horizontal feet across my attic ceiling, enter through block and brick in order to leak where it was leaking. I was not happy with the diagnosis. I got on the roof, got on top of my chimney cap and saw large cracks in it and they were directly above my leak. It was cracking where Lindeman previously repaired it with caulk and there were more cracks that needed caulk. One of the new flues was listing to one side pretty good. I was not as upset about the cracks as I was that the person who inspected the chimney did not have enough sense to look. I think Lindeman is probably really good at simple jobs, but when it comes to a big job stay away. At any rate, we had the job redone by a masonry company and not a "chimney service". What a difference.

Super fast, friendly & clean service.  The technician was even great with my dog, who was MORE than interested in what he was doing. Always left with peace of mind after a visit. Love the 3 rounds of firewood that comes along with the service, as well.  See you soon for my regular cleaning, Lindemann!

I hired Lindemann to inspect an odor coming through the chimney, they sent a camera up and noticed the flue tile joints were cracked and recommended replacing flue with stainless liner and they thought this would correct odor issue as tiles were glazed with creosote, so removing the tiles should remove the odor. Fast forward to the winter and a few fires later and unfortunately, the smell returned. It seems our house was too tight from some of the remodeling we had done and the house was trying to draw outside air in through the firebox, which I had suspected was a big part of the original problem.

I expressed my frustration over the unresolved issue and they agreed to return to clean out firebox and smoke chamber and seal everything and install a gas log set at fair price, so unfortunately we had to switch from wood burning to gas, but now our fireplace is usable and the odor issue that plagued our home has been corrected. I give this company huge credit for standing behind their work and coming back out on several occasions to work towards finding the proper solution for our home. Big credit to Joe B. for his dedication and commitment to his work. He's an asset to the company. I would highly recommend Lindemann Chimney Service.

I needed a chimney liner and some exterior cracks repaired. Lindemann responded to my request for service very promptly. Once on sight their team was professional and very efficient, not to mention fearless, given that one of their workers had to ascend my very steep chimney and work on it at a very significant height. A good job was done quickly and at a reasonable price.
