I have lived in Columbia for 25 years. We have always bought all our supplies from what was formally named Award. Never had a problem and always had what I needed. The first time I walked into L&R 's and asked a question I got a 10 minute lecture on why I was wrong for asking for what I asked for.  I didn't go back for some time but decided to try again. I found that if I knew what I wanted and "kept my head down" I would not get a lecture. (My vet even said they were wrong in what they tell their clients about taking care of cats and dogs,) I have been trying to get millet for my outside birds for three weeks.  I was suppose to receive a call "when it came in". It never came in. I called today and was asked if I had placed an order. Of course I hadn't. Katie didn't seem to have a clue what I wanted so I asked to talk to someone in charge. I got Jessica the owner. I was told that (and here was the attitude coming out ...it was the tone...not the words) she could make a call for me and see if the supplier could send some. First she made excuses for the staff and when I was critical of them, praised them.Then I was told that they aren't going to carry bird supplies and just concentrate on cats and dogs. If they weren't going to carry bird supplies why not just tell me and Ill find them someplace else. There was more but I wont go into it. I couldn't take the lecture and hung up.I will never set foot in that store again.

All the employees at Lizzi & Rocco's are  extremely nice & helpful. I recommend them for basic pet care needs and I'd you have a pet that may require a special diet. They know their stuff!

Nice people and good products but last time I visited, I asked for assistance in reading the expiration date on some cat food. The clerk told me it was December. What he didn't tell me was that it was December 2016 - already several months past it's expiration and they were selling it at a discount when it should have been pulled from the shelves. I moved out of state and only found this out several months later when I looked at the date myself recently.

Update:
Jessica was really great about quickly correctly this error and showed genuine concern about this issue - she really cared which can be rare to find these days. I believe this to have been an honest mistake by the clerk who assisted me. Other than this one issue, it's been a great place to shop.

Staff is very helpful and not pushy. Willing to understand your pets needs balanced with your financial needs as well. Only been there twice but all staff is very helpful friendly and professional.
