Lobster Buoy Campsite

About

Lobster Buoy Campsites is located in beautiful mid-coast Maine.

Story

Lobster Buoy Campsites was started in 1969 by Fred and Mabel Batty. We started small, with five campsites, and have grown slowly to the current forty sites. We have tried not to commercialize our area, preferring to keep things simple and to the like of the old-fashioned camper. Our guests enjoy the camping experience and demand no additional entertainment.
Little has change at Lobster Buoy over the years, except the camping families are now into the fourth generation. We have attempted to keep the campsites updated but unchanged. The mackerel and stripers arrive around the fourth of July and the schooners still sail past on their seagoing adventures. Lobster boats still work and the kayaks and sailboats still play in the cove in front of the campsite. Fred no longer tells his stories around the campfires, but the ducks, loons, and gulls still carry on their conversations while they fish in the ocean in front of the campsites.
We have a two week maximum stay, no minimum.
We have a few sites large enough for the big RVs. We hope that every campsite has a view of the ocean and we trust our campers to position their rigs and vehicles with consideration for their neighbors whenever possible

Love this place. It's a little strange, a little different. I went off season in the late spring and tent camped. We were the only campers in the tenting area. The tenting lots are right on the ocean. You can carry a boat over the beach and enjoy the coastal waters. Rockland is close by and a great place to eat, shop, and enjoy some art.

Fantastic family owned campground. Right on the water. A place to drop in kayaks. Small and quiet. Clean bathrooms. Respectful and fun campers. Most sites have water and electric hookups.

Super expensive for what it is. $30 a night for tent camping? And then I have to pay 50 cents for a shower that never got even close to hot? Yeah, I don't think so. The view was really pretty in the morning, but other than that, don't expect much.

Our favorite campground, period. About 30 established grassy sites for RVs right at the shoreline. Separate tenting area at shore. Pebble beach, hand boat launch, cove sheltered from surf by outer islands, kayak country. Quiet. Peaceful. No activities, no club house, no kids playground, nothing. Many long time (30 year) return campers. About $35/night, W/E @site, dump handy.
