So that location seems to change hands every year. Every new restaurant I'm always excited, "Maybe this one is the one!". Gave it a shot for lunch yesterday. My parents are in town from Cleveland and wanted to do something with a view for lunch, good seafood would be a plus! Looking online we saw that Locals Dock opens at 11am, menu looked good, exciting, right! Not so much. I rode my bike down from Atlantic Beach and met them there about 11:25 and the place was all closed up. As we were standing there someone started opening up the bar area. We asked about getting a table and she told us they wouldn't be open until 12:00. No offer to sit down and enjoy a beer or apology for not being open. In fact, she continued with excuses that she was in fact there early. Her shift didn't start until 11:30 (3 minutes away). Ya know, big deal. They weren't open on time, but.. It is a big deal. It illustrates their commitment to quality, how they feel about their patrons, the pride they take in their establishment... I don't care about who's scheduled to start when! Seriously? Be nice! Make us feel welcome! So strike one, not open, strike two rude waitstaff... We decided to wait another 30 minutes enjoying the view from the walk-over across the boardwalk. 12:00 came, door still locked, nothing stirring inside... Strike three. Sorry guys. Walking down the boardwalk to the mediocre Ocean Grill. A great seafood restaurant with some pride in their establishment, consistent service, consistent product and friendly staff could mop up on Jax Beach Boardwalk... Maybe next year.

The shrimp was cooked perfectly both grilled and blackened and the side of asparagus was so good that I want to figure out how to make it at home. Drink specials are cheap. Mostly rum drinks and beer specials. The rum punch is yummy.
