Mostly deserted on the weekday we were there. The smoke from forest fire at Nelson had really impaired visibility of the neighboring mountains. The beach is fine gravel with some rocks so water shoes would be a good idea 
Water wad as warm as you might hope for given the depth and the mountain location.

Great places to get away from the heat. Cedar and fir tree forest provides excellent shade. Situated within meters of a beautiful beach on Kootenay lake and adjacent to the creek and hiking trail.
