Story

Long Point Provincial Park is a provincial park on the northwest shore of Lake Erie near Port Rowan, Ontario, Canada. The park is part of a sandy spit of land called Long Point that juts out into the lake. It covers part of the area of Long Point Biosphere Reserve, which was designated a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve because of its biological significance.SummaryLong Point Provincial Park is famous for its migrating birds during spring and fall, and attracts thousands of birdwatchers. There have been 383 different species recorded on Long Point. Many different types of turtles and snakes are a common sight during the summer season. The park is within the most significant part of the core range of the Fowler's Toad (Bufo woodhousei fowleri). This species of toad is designated as a threatened species within Ontario and Canada by the Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada. There are two parts to the park, the "Old Park" (also known as Cottonwood Campground), which is a small chunk of land surrounded by cottages that contains about eighty camp sites and no showers or comfort stations. The other section is the "new park", which contains Firefly, Monarch's Rest and Turtle Dunes Campgrounds as well as a boat launch and many good views of the marshes and Long Point Bay. It is larger and more spread than the old park and about a kilometre further down Long Point.

Long Point Provincial Park is favourite spot for myself and many of my friends. Camping here was a great experience. The beach is long and some sites are so close to the beach it makes for a very carefree and enjoyable time. The comfort station is one of the cleanest I have ever seen for a Provincial Park. Very impressed with that, considering I've been to many Provincial campgrounds. The water was shallow enough in some places for little ones to enjoy too. I would highly recommend this park for those who just love the beach and nature.

Long Point is a great place to get away from daily life. Once you drive onto the causeway the sights and sounds of wildlife, the waves hitting the beach and the quietness of this world biosphere makes you feel like you have travelled to a remote place. If you have been there you will understand!

First time here and loved it. Will have to come back here to try out the camp grounds. Beach is sandy, clean and shallow for a long stretch which was great for the kids. There was even an area where the water was "trapped" in so the water was warmer. Kids used it as the warm pool when they got too cold from the beach. 😀 lots of shade on the dunes and also picnic tables were available near the beach. Washrooms were decent. They don't have any food store in the park so we had to drive out to buy but it was only like a 2/3 mins drive. Overall it's a great place and will definitely revisit!

This place had been on my radar for quite some time. There's so much to do in the area, from boat tours to camping, to tree top canopy tours and zip lining. The whole coast is intriguing, but I really appreciate the provincial park, the dunes and the rare purple sand. Some of the Ports - as you head up the coast - have plenty to do, including multiple restaurants right on the beach. Had so much fun. I'd recommend planning ahead, to maximize your travel experience here.

Great time overall. We camped in the turtle dunes section right near the washroom. Mosquitoes were awful!!! Plus constant traffic to the washroom. I was shocked at how many people drove to washrooms/showers and it never ends all day! Park area in turtle dunes area is not great either. I would camp in firefly if we return. I will say beach & washrooms were both clean and great! Not a lot in long point, but it def has spots to grab ice cream, hot dogs and fries!
