Brought my daughter here today with hesitation from the array of terrible reviews given. Today is a Sunday. She is almost two, has had fever since yesterday (Saturday), and has severely swollen tonsils. I have never taken either of my children to anyone other than their PCP. We only chose urgent care today to avoid the ER (since her needs are non-emergency) but to obtain care since the fever is continuous and she has had febrile seizures in the past. Upon arrival at 10:35 A.M., the staff receiving patients was very rude and simply pointing us into the direction of a kiosk to check-in. She even told one older man, "Just do the best you can." There were about six or seven patients who I anticipated would be seen ahead of my daughter. After a two hour wait, my daughter was extremely restless and agitated since she was beginning to run fever again as she hadn't had any medication since we left home. We had already invested that much time waiting to see a doctor, so I chose to wait a little longer. After my daughter screamed and cried for almost another hour, she finally fell asleep only to wake up shortly thereafter with fever again. I was not prepared with medication to alleviate her fever as I sure did not anticipate being in the waiting room for four hours! Yes, four hours I waited with my toddler for absolutely unacceptable service. The nurse vaguely questioned me about her symptoms. I asked for medication since I had not anticipated the extremely long wait. I even mentioned to her that I told the staff up front about my daughter's past seizures and probably should have simply taken her to the ER. As I mentioned before, my thoughts in avoiding the ER were for us not to clog the system with this illness that was not an emergency but was urgent enough not to wait to see her pediatrician hopefully tomorrow...hence going to urgent care. The nurse was never apologetic for the extreme length of wait time nor offered any concern for my daughter's discomfort due to her fever and throat pain. We waited another 45 minutes to see someone else-I say, "Someone else," because I have no idea who she is. She never introduced herself to me-only instructed me to place my daughter sitting on the exam table. She proceeded to look into my daughter's ears then her mouth. She then asked me if she had her adenoids and tonsils or if she had tubes in her ears. My daughter does have tubes-She NEVER saw the tubes! Only after I told her did she go back for a second look to examine the functionality of the tubes. She instructed me to give her Dymatapp to "dry her up." I explained that my daughter has had no other symptoms besides the fever, severe throat pain, and very swollen tonsils to the point of them touching. She told me that my daughter had an infection and she would be right back with a prescription. I was dumbfounded by her lack of concern and care. My daughter was still crying so we literally just walked out only to find the person who examined my daughter sitting at a computer and talking with the nurse about a non-medical subject. An hour later, I received a message from my pharmacy that my daughter's prescription was ready to be picked up. I called the pharmacy and told them that we would not be picking up the prescription and to please ensure that my insurance was not billed for it. I plan to contact her pediatrician first thing in the morning in hopes to be seen. They're always extremely helpful, and I have no doubt that my daughter's infection will be corrected through their care. I have never written a negative online review before, but I felt compelled to let others know of my experience before they go spend their hard earned money for a service that they expect from this urgent care when they will most probably be disappointed. Our day was completely wasted. I could have kept my daughter home and have her resting than putting her into the hands of completely uncaring and incompetent "professionals." Five hours later, and all I received from this urgent care was a bill.

I actually wanted to give zero stars but I couldn't. I brought my four year old in because he burned his hand. The Nurse practioner was so rude she told my son that's not evening crying you are screaming, stop screaming you are hurting my ears. This woman was so rude and unprofessional I just can't believe it. After wrapping his hand with guaze she says I have to step outside( cause her ears were hurting) and comes back slaps some tape on the gauze and as we were leaving she says very loudly I'm gonna have to go to the doctor now. I'm am so pissed off, I will never step foot in the office as long as I live!

I brought my nearly 2 year old here with respiratory issues. While the wait was not long the PA was over the top rude. My son held and was bending my drink straw, she told me "I suggest you take that before he stabs himself" after explaining our issues and the high cough at night along with the fever she said " I am not a pediatrician and wont be prescribing anything" I took my son to his usual pediatrician the next day and he has bronchitis and stridor. Southside urgent care in Maurice is amazing!! Well worth the drive and they're open until 8pm.

I brought my one and a half year old son here after consulting with a family member who is a doctor. When I told her his symptoms, she yelled "BRING HIM TO THE DOCTOR NOW!" My usual pediatrician was closed for the day so I decided to bring him to urgent care rather than the ER...HUGE MISTAKE. The nurse was EXTREMELY rude!! I had mickey mouse playing on my phone so that my baby could keep quiet. As I hear her knocking on the door, I proceed to take the phone from him and put it down. She says, " I'll wait until you get off the phone". No greeting, no nothing. Then, she proceeds to look in his throat and eyes and that is ALL she did. No tests at all. I'm not a doctor, but I'm pretty sure she should have at least listened to his breathing. After all of 30 seconds of "checking him out", she says he has a common cold and there's nothing she can do or prescribe because he's so young. Ok...so....just go home and let my child die is basically what you want me to do? NO! Needless to say, I was livid when I left, but more worried about my baby than anything. Next day, I got him in the pediatrician first thing in the morning and he had an upper respiratory infection, which she did, in fact PRESCRIBE medicine for and also recommended otc meds to use in rotation. THANKS FOR NOTHING BUT A BILL OPELOUSAS URGENT CARE, YOU HAVE TO DO BETTER!!

The wait time is ridiculous with not very many people waiting. And they messed up the insurance claim and insisted I owed them money when I shouldn't have.
