This is a dream come true for a spice-lover like myself. Having visiting Mala Tang stalls in Beijing, I can endorse the authenticity of this restaurant. I was given the option to select from a wide array of staples mostly noodles, assorted vegetables, bean products, and various protein though predominantly processed meat. It would have been great if the food items are better labelled for the uninitiated. After picking what I want in my Mala Tang, I hand my selection off to the kitchen, where it's cooked in pork bone broth and topped with chilli oil. Food is priced at $0.9 per ounce, which is on the pricier side. I believe the restaurant offer non-spicy and no-soup options as well, but hey, what's the point if you aren't getting something spicy? ;
Pricey but good taste, would go again. This bowl in picture costs $30, which made me regret coming here when I was going to pay. I’m a 115-lb girl and I almost finished this bowl so it’s not like I ate a lot. I do like the soup base so I would go again, but next time I’m nothing going to pick these much. The price is $0.9 per ounce or $14.4 per pound raw food you select.
What's up with over inflated Google review stars?! ...every city I visit I use Google to steer me towards great local eats, but lately it's been missing the mark big time. Is it, like- "no accounting for bad taste" or is it business owners buying stars? I don't know, but it's making me sad. This place was way blah, bland broth, chasu pork was not melt in your mouth like it should be- it was chewy and unredered fat lingered in your mouth. The eggs weren't soft boiled and appeared marinated but had only egg flavor- no fragrant savory bouquet and the overcooked yoke, floated around [dry af] in the clear weak broth. I ordered the spicey pork broth but no flavor could be found. The pork buns were completely flavorless and overpriced for the portion of musty pork. I would not go here again. I hate spending money on food out I could have made WAY better at home.
The ramen here is both low cost and delicious. You'll have to add a lot of ingredients to get to the $10 minimum for credit card. Love Ramen is a personal favorite of mine, especially later in the evening when other places have closed.
A pretty decent Raman place in Oakland. The menu offers a lot of customizations and is pretty easy to understand. Wait times are never too long and the Raman always has a good presentation. They also sell pork buns although they aren't the best ones I've ever had! This used to be a froyo place and it still looks like one on the inside. The Wallas are pink, orange, and green, an absolute eyesore. They do cater to vegetarians here. I recommend trying this place.
It's a pretty good ramen place. It's a build your own ramen style menu, so you pick out the broth $4.50 and then the noodle $2 and the flavor don't get miso and then any toppings you might want $0.50 to $1. So basically what you can get for $10 anywhere else, also costs $10 here. But the inside is very dirty and very humid. I wouldn't pick this over zen noodle house on Forbes
Their rice noodle is great. Really nailed the flavor loved by many from Southern/Southwestern China. ps: just wanna affirm the comments from other reviewers that this is definitely not ramen
Love that we have this experience in Pittsburgh. Authentic: food and experience. Not fancy, but homey and real, with good, reasonably-priced food.
Very Mom-and-Pop, family owned feel, which I love. SO many different choices in Ramen-- noodles, broth, etc... Price is very reasonable even for a loaded up bowl. I'll be bringing my friends here. Complimentary tea is very nice too.
I frequently ate at the old location on Atwood and LOVED it so I was super excited to try the new location. Similar to places in Beijing, you select add-ins and put them in a bowl to hand to the cashier to weigh. Unlike Beijing- the cost was shockingly high. My bowl with tofu, corn and mushrooms cost $17. My friend's with a few extra fish cakes cost $19. I thought there had to be a mistake...maybe they didn't tare the bowl? While we were there another person prepared a bowl and hers cost $20. They list the price at $.90 per ounce, but DANG, that's a lot for ramen. I just can't justify going back. I gave 3 stars because it was pretty tasty.
