Lowell Fire Dept is dedicated to providing exceptional emergency services to protect the Life, Property, and Environment of our Citizens and our Community.

Story

Lowell Fire Department was founded as an all-volunteer department in 1973. The department has evolved to what is now a full time department staffed 24/7 with 17 sworn firefighters. Operational services provided include fire suppression, fire investigation, fire prevention and community education programs, emergency extrication, and paramedic level emergency medical response and transport. These services are provided using state of the art apparatus, rescue, and fire / EMS equipment. The department currently operates from one fire station, with plans to expand operations to a second station in the near future. We serve an area of 27 square miles with a population of approximately 13,000 residents. We respond to 1000 – 1100 calls annually.

So often when you have interaction with people who are paid by a city or town their behavior and attention to detail can sometimes be lacking. Not the case with these 2 members of the Lowell city fire department. I am a real estate agent and in the course of selling a home in Massachusetts it is required that you schedule a smoke alarm inspection I had the pleasure of meeting Julio and William who were both exemplary and professional gentlemen who showed me every possible courtesy and actually helped me install an additional smoke alarm that was necessary before I could have the house officially certified safe. When this has happened in the past the fire department officials from other municipalities will sometimes become angry and they will leave and not give me a chance to install the smoke alarm on the spot. These were 2 very nice young men and I just wanted to let them know how grateful I am, that they not only serve and protect, but they also nurture and help the public. Good job guys and please keep up the good work :
Had to call the FD due to not being able to get a hold of the maintenance in my moms building and a malfunctioning smoke detector. They were so helpful and quick. Thank you!!
This department did an amazing job responding on Friday to my neighbors house fire. The house is a total loss but thier quick response time saved all the of the residents from harm and saved my home from catching on fire and putting us in harm's way. Thank you very much for your bravery and dedication.
