This center offers a brief yet powerful history of Appalachia and Appalachian culture. If you're in Berea, Kentucky it is a must see.

LJAC is an interesting museum re: Appalachia. The library, the archives, are fonts of information available to anyone for free.

The director is extremely knowledgeable, kind, and helpful; the permanent exhibit is fabulously rich, diverse, and detailed, and all of the rotating exhibits I've seen add a great deal; and THEY HAVE A FREE DOLLY PARTON PINBALL MACHINE!!!!!! Need I say more?
