Story

The Ludema Family has been growing things at the same location for four generations. The fifth generation is also playing an active role in the business. Abe and Adrianna Ludema (the second generation) grew crops outside to take to the market. Bud (Harold) and Sue Ludema (third generation) continued to grow produce and build greenhouses so they could grow lettuce and tomatoes during the winter.

The retail business started by selling sweet corn on a board by the side of the road. Gradually, the greenhouses were being used to grow annuals instead of produce. The fourth generation (Dave, Rene’, and Mike) continued to build more greenhouses. Ludema’s keeps busy all year by growing many types of annuals, perennials, plus seasonal and holiday blooming plants for retail and wholesale.

During this time, Ludema’s floral department has continued to grow with the fifth generation (Allison and Bonnie Ludema) being involved. We have recently opened a new boutique floral shop in East Hills, New Design Floral.

In the year 2000 we stopped selling produce and changed our name from Ludema’s Flowers and Produce to Ludema’s Floral and Garden.

We have done a lot of growing through the years and it wouldn’t have been possible without all of the wonderful employees who have helped us along the way. It also has happened because of faithful customers like yourself who have spread the word and continued to support our locally owned family business. We appreciate our customers and employees and will continue to provide the best quality service and product.
