Food was meh. Pics online looked good, so figured we would try it. Didn’t really work out for us. Very expensive for such small portions. And then the quality just wasn’t really there. If we had to recommend something, the duck fat fries were pretty good. Bet they would have been excellent if they were warm/fresh. We did takeout so maybe your luck would be better for dining in.
The tacos were really good and served fresh. Service was quick for a one man show. Would not recommend the sweet potato taco as it didn't really have flavour but the tomato and mahi mahi tacos were top notch. The kids grilled cheese was incredible! More so the kids started eating that!
The food is average; the best thing we had on the menu was the chicken tenders. The Mac and cheese I ordered the BBQ Shortrib Mac and the rice in the Sticky Pineapple Chicken bowl, could've been much warmer. Very expensive menu. Lastly, for the underperforming stuff it seems to be common knowledge among Ithaca folk that this place has the habit of getting it's to go orders wrong at times. HOWEVER We came to this place 3 of the 4 nights we stayed in Ithaca, and on Sunday, we came twice for dinner; one without drinks, and one for drinks. So yes. We visited this location 4 times almost back to back. Yea the food is average in general, but it's one of the only places open late... Later than the bars in the commons late. Making it a great spot to hit after a full day of exploring Ithaca/talking to students. For some reason, the college town location, which is allegedly open til 1am every day, did not show up during our search for dinner, so we stuck with this one. Which closes at 1:30am Friday, and 11pm on Sunday and Monday days we went. Each time I had drinks, I had the Mason Jar Sangria. Hands down one of the best drinks I've had, and it got better each time I had it. Very strong, and tasted great! We also tried the Running strong, the Luna G+T, the mango margarita, and the John Daly. They were all good, but the sangria took it. We were served by Sam, Jordan, and Toni, and they were amazing, down to earth, went above and beyond, easy to talk to and knowledgeable about the neighborhood. Honestly, they're a big reason why I rated this place as highly as I did. Them, the chicken, and the drinks. If only they served coffee haha But in all seriousness, for a town where everything closes at 5pm, 10pm or 1am, this place was a consistent source of grub, and great drinks. Would recommend to anyone visiting Ithaca. Vegetarian options: LOTS of vegetarian and some vegan options. There is something for everyone. Parking: Parking on the street. Do not recommend. Lots of people opt to park and pick up their food. Highly recommend walking from a hotel in the area to here.
My husband and I came for the Wednesday 2-for-1 burger deal. I am 8 months pregnant and we were sat at a high top table with barstools when there were booths open, and it was very uncomfortable. We ordered two Americana burgers, a beer and a Shirley temple as the promotional email pictured says the burgers need to be ordered with a drink. The burgers are normally 17.99 which seems completely outrageous, especially considering the quality of food. The quality is akin to Burger King, I definitely would never order a burger here again. When it was served, it only came with a few dill slices on the side. I asked if I could get a dill spear since that what was pictured on the email and told no. The fries were unseasoned other than salt and pretty much inedible without ketchup. At the end of our meal we got our check which showed the full price for the burgers, I informed our server we were there for the 2-for-1 and the bill was corrected expect the second time there were to-go orders added that we hasn't ordered, so the bill was corrected again. I don't fault them for this because they were clearly training new people but I think if you're running a promotion your clientele shouldn't have to request it be applied to the bill, it should just automatically be applied. Also, we were not told at any time alcohol doesn't count for the promotion, so we ended up having to pay for a soft drink we didn't want and didn't order. Considering the beer was almost twice as much as the soft drink, I think it should have counted. After we got our bill fixed for the second time we were able to pay and leave. I definitely won't be coming back, I don't understand how this restaurant has so many patrons with such low quality of food.
Food was middling at best. Pics online looked good, reviews were okay. Didn’t like anything but the duck fat fries. Everything was very expensive for such small portions. And the quality just wasn’t really there. Soggy with sauce or completely void of seasoning, with no in between. Then I saw how they thaw their frozen beef tubes in dirty dishwater. That's totally not ok. I definitely won't be coming back here during my next trip to the Finger Lakes.
The food was delicious! Everything was cooked well and the dining area was clean. There was a bit of a wait, but the servers were nice and communicated with us about the wait.Food: 5/5
Second time visiting tonight. Great food, somehow I think it was better than the first time. We had many dishes, they were so good. Each had a vibrant yet unique flavor. Very happy with the food and the service. I'm not sure how much a beer in Ithaca tends to go for but I thought the can of beer was a little steep ‍ not really a big deal since the serving size of the food is so big
Food was great!! Burrito was delicious! Gouda Mac and Cheese was incredible! Burger super tasty! They have beer on draft and wine. Everything needed for a party of 16. Service was super helpful and patient with the big group of wrestling boys.Food: 5/5
I heard many good things about Luna over the years, and when I was in Ithaca recently I decided to give it a try. Upon entering, my party and I waited at the hostess stand for a couple minutes before we were greeted, even after multiple employees passed by without acknowledging us... a little annoying, but the place seemed busy, so it wasn't a huge deal. We were told there was an available table for us, but it needed to be cleaned from previous customers. Again, busy place, so we waited a bit. Once seated, we were promptly brought water, which was nice on the hot day. While we were enjoying the water and reviewing the menus, we noticed multiple small parties entering the restaurant, talking with the hostess, and then leaving - it was strange to see this as time went on, as the restaurant had many open, large tables, and the parties entering were small averaging 2-3 people. The waitress came to take our order; we placed our order. After about 45 minutes of waiting, another staff member came to our table and informed us... that it would be another hour or so before we received our food, as there is only one cook working. I let the staff member know that it would have been nice to be informed about this prior to being seated, as we would have gone to another establishment - I assume this was why parties were walking out of the restaurant after speaking with the hostess. My party and I decided to leave to find food elsewhere. As we were leaving the restaurant, we noticed the staff member who informed us about the wait time scolding our waitress pretty heavily indiscernibly in the kitchen. The restaurant is clearly understaffed, and on-site management does not seem to be helping any. I really hope things bounce back for Luna.
Waitress was so kind!!! Loved her. I got cheese pizza and the duck fat fries. HUGE portions that are definitely worth the price : The fries were a bit greasy but I loved the garlic taste! I enjoyed my time and would totally go again. The pizza had a nice smokey accent to it as well that I throughly enjoyed.
