Came here because a friend said it was head and shoulders better than Carbone across the street, and we were not disappointed. From the cocktails to the foccacia bread all the way to the tartufo for dessert, everything was excellent.
All around great experience, this Roman inspired restaurant offers ambiance, quality service, and tasty food. Pairing the wine came easy with their Sommelier, server was attentive with a splash of personality, he offered his “best dishes” and when ordering them it was certain he was not wrong. Short rib ragu, the pork chop, meatballs, all was to be desired.
Great midday meal. Quaint indoor or outside sitting. Full bar. Perfect for two or family out.Food: 5/5
I am glad people like this place because I am being generous with 3 stars. We ate outside which was lovely and the service was pretty good. The food on the other hand was not exactly the same. I did enjoy the bread and appetizers however strip steak and dessert had no flavor unfortunately I am not exaggerating… no flavor. It was pretty busy so hopefully this was a one time occurrence.
The food and the service is fantastic at Lupa! Five stars service! Our server was amazing and the atmosphere incredible, it feels like in a tratoria in Rome! the octopus and Arancini were absolutely good, and the wine list it’s out of this world! We had a perfect table next to the wall.Food: 5/5
I love Italian food and couldn't wait to try this restaurant. When I arrived I parked on the street not too far. When I walked in, I was greeted by James the host, and he was very nice. The restaurant was so cute! Adrian was the bartender, Marco was my server, and Ian was the GM. They were all great! I started with an espresso martini, which was great. I then had an amazing red wine. For my appetizer, I had the Arancini di Mozzarella, and it wasn't bad. It was nice and cheesey. For my meal, I got the Black Spaghetti with Spicy frutti di mare. I really enjoyed my entrée. It was very different and melted in my mouth. I really enjoyed the food, drink and service!
I’ve always considered Lupa one of the best in NYC. I’ve been going here for almost 20 years. I was very unhappy with my entree -the duck, and what seemed to be a rather sluggish experience overall. It has somehow lost its charm. It’s overly crowded and just not as good as it could be. The value for service and quality did not measure up this time.
Make sure you make a reservation for dinner because it gets busy very fast! Food was delicious and staff were very friendly. I would love to come back and try some of the other pasta options. Highly recommend the lamb dish which is the perfect amount for 3 people. You can expect to pay around $50-$100 per person depending on drinks, but the price is worth it. There is outdoor seating as well but I did not see anyone there since it was a pretty cold night.
No hard feelings but I just don't think our bill felt worth it. Maybe I didn't order the best thing. I might try it again but it's not every day I visit NYC or spend this kind of $$ on a dinner. I expected better. It isn't bad! It's good! The service was fantastic.. the wine was wonderful.. the food was just not take all my money good when I compare it with the little Italian places I've tried in Chicago. Kid-friendliness: I would not bring my kids
First of hopefully many visits to this delightfully cozy establishment. Extensive wine list and steady advice for pairings. The meatballs alone are reason enough to return! Portions are appropriately sized. Everything I have samples thus far has been delicious. Very well done
