I called MAV for a leaf in one room of my house during monsoon season where the water damage over the bedroom had caused ceiling sheetrock to faiI, + saw another area where there was a drip. While they came the next morning to sweep off and tarp the roof, we discussed that entire roof probably needed to be done after repair, my investment. I questioned how this would be done when still persistent heavy rains (Farmer's insurance agent said it had been a '10 year storm'), they mentioned one in immediate area & how it was done in sections. Well, not mine. That Saturday while the owner was in Phoenix, his crew uncovered the entire room to rafters and had skylights off until later in the afternoon when a storm suddenly came in and it was if it was raining in my home. This continued throughout the night and the next day. They did complete the roof, but all the water was in the roof in the kitchen and my office over desk area and computer to the point where I was on the phone Monday and an approx. 3' square piece of sheetrock started falling. I was on the phone and had to tell the other person (IT call) that I needed to put down phone to prevent it from falling on me and computer. I believe the Farmer's appraiser knew the roofer, so initially when he came out he said it was the fault of whoever repaired the roof when the house was sold to me, even though I had owned for 15 months and had no water in the house. That is, that even though Farmer's had said it was an "extraordinary" storm condition, he not only did not see this, the adjuster saw no negligence with roofer having exposed the entire roof at "quitting time" to the degree where they could not prevent the water from gushing into the entire ceiling. After filing a complaint with Farmer's for their assessment, it was later amended to say, "it cannot be determined at this time if later water damage occurred while new roof was executed" or something to this effect. I just seems apparent to me that with this combination, M.A.V. & Tony, Farmer's adjuster, that there won't be anything paid. So, I'm warning others of M.A.V.s practices + Farmer's won't find them negligent. They are only pointing to some unknown roofer from April 2016. We are undertaking the repair of the interior ceiling sheetrock and I did get remediation company to whom I've paid $2500+ to use fans for 2 weeks plus and get samples. But, we still removed wet insulation from the bedroom today. This gentleman didn't want to be liable, so I did call both M.A.V. and Farmer's to make note of the wet insulation which would point to moisture still coming into the ceiling. Now Farmer's said that they aren't responsible for "faulty roof repair" again, yet now it's M.A.V. whose practices they'd just defended! I've now paid for new roof ($11,000+) minus only $300 (all M.A.V. felt they were responsible of interior damage). I'd asked roofer to call home warranty (so I could at least get the $1,000 for the roof repair) as instructed by 24-7 home warranty, paid remediation (and they did a good job), and will pay for the sheetrock possibly being repaired with a roof that still leaks. Will be changing insurance carriers for sure. Everyone seems to know each other in these crews. M.A.V. said that insurance companies aren't going to pay, period, this the game, nothing wrong in photos, I guess. I hope the work holds up, it appears to be good from what I've seen though some of the detailing at the entry could be neater. And, unless he's handling my roof differently, it won't be a white roof. Others said that the final coating isn't on, so if your HOA requires this it will be an additional expense. But, M.A.V. said their roof doesn't need it. I definitely wouldn't hire this company during monsoon season, unless you could have someone up on the roof seeing if the crew is really doing it in sections (as the owner said was done for the other client). I had 3 other contractors at my home doing work on the patio and in the kitchen and they witnessed all of it, roof was totally open. Interior ceiling damage 75% M.A.V.
