This quaint little place was a huge hit. With one app, 2 soups, 2 entrees, 2 deserts, and some adult beverages, it was about $100 per person. They were not shy with a huge clump of lobster meat in the bisque. The French Onion Soup was some of the best I have ever had. Ray Wing SkateWing entree was great and cooked to perfection. The Duck L'orange transported me to some fancy restaurant in France! To wrap the evening up we had the chocolate souffle and baked strawberry Alaska we would order again. Reservations is a must if you want to dine at a decent hour. Dress code seemed pretty loose. Although knowing this I would still dress smart casual.
A favorite easy walk down Cambridge from Massachusetts General. The BEST lobster bisque I’ve ever had. This time followed by tender frog legs and husband’s veal chop. All great. Small place so go early or make reservations.
An authentic French culinary experience with amazing food and effortlessly precise, quintessentially French service. With its wood and brick accents and tile floors, Ma Maison feels like a rustic French cottage. This ambiance, nostalgic of the French countryside, pairs flawlessly with their classic French dishes. Beginning with the appetizers, the in-house smoked salmon stood out with its rich, chewy texture. Equally stunning was the pan-seared foie gras, a delicate delight harmoniously paired with the subtle sweetness of rhubarb. Not to be overlooked, the steak tartare with capers and crostini was also solid. From Plat de Résistance, the Duck Magret was an indulgent treat. While it did lean towards the fattier side, it was undeniable how the luxurious duck fat melded seamlessly with the earthy notes of asparagus and the sweet tang of cherry. Even the service managed to encapsulate French hospitality perfectly: unfussy yet impeccably timed, and replete with that nonchalant air that only the French can pull off. There are some great classic French restaurants in Boston, but Ma Maison, in my opinion, is superior to the popular ones in South End and Back Bay. Highly recommend giving them a try. Stopped by for lunch. The French onion soup was delicious! Staff are courteous. The place is tiny so tables are very near each other just like in Paris. Will return and certainly recommend!Food: 5/5
Food is amazing. Service is incredible. Their escargots is a must order. Chef Jacky’s butter is the best gift to humankind.Food: 5/5
Had a wonderful dinner for two midweek. The restaurant was full by 7:30pm, and the food was delicious. We had two soups: mushroom & French onion and two seafood dishes including ray fin and scallops. I would recommend all that we had. Cahors region Malbec was also surprisingly good for price point $12/glass. We would come back again!
We dined here during peak lunch hours and were not impressed. Execution was completely off. Mushroom soup was creamy and rich but needed way more salt. French onion soup was too sweet. Foie gras — overcooked, almost burnt. Steak frite was tough and also overcooked. However, the quiche was cheesy and enjoyable. For dessert, we ordered the crepe Suzette and apple tart — both also way too sweet!! The crepe Suzette would’ve been stellar had they poured only half the amount of orange sauce. The two pieces of crepes were pretty much floating with the amount of sauce on the place. In terms of service, it was very difficult to get a hold of someone to get the menu, order food, or even get the check. It was a frustrating experience. I adore French food but would not recommend Ma Maison.
Cozy, quaint French restaurant. Great French onion soup & spritzers. The salmon was cooked well, hot & very filling. Can’t wait to come back!Food: 5/5
I love Ma Maison. Service: Friendly and fast. They are super nice. Food. It tastes homemade. It’s delicious. Their wine is good too. Leave room for dessert. My favorite thing is the warm bread.
If you have never been to Paris, a visit to this restaurant will take you there for the evening. The vibe is bistro-perfect. The service is excellent. The food is as good as we have ever had in France. Below are photos of our meal for two; Country Pate, Cod filet with mushroom sauce, and Duck Marget with red cherries and asparagus gratin. We did not have room for dessert. With Boston being one of the most expensive cities in America, this restaurant is also a bargain. Bon Appetit.
