My comments are concerning only the clothing sections of the store.
Used to be my 'go-to' store at the mall.  I would go there first for something specific, if they didn't have it I would shop other stores.  Everything was displayed well and easy to find a size you were looking for. Things have certainly changed. The store now looks like Filene's Basement.  Clothes are stuffed on racks and some on the floor.  The upper-end clothes are not presented attractively, but at least they aren't messy.  The prices don't reflect what you see when you walk into the store .  The coupons have more exceptions than not and in microscopic print and you're hard pressed to find anyone to help you. 
I walked the entire women and men's area before I found one associate.  I do realize that isn't their problem. 

 I purchased a handbag - it was over $150. The clerk  was going to keep the dust bag that came with my bag -  she said she needed it for the store bag. I had  to argue that it came with the bag I purchased.  She put my purchase  in a Macy's paper bag.  When I picked it up, the Macy's bag tore down the side.  I was told by the clerk that that was 'tough' I wasn't going to get another bag.  I went to another station and asked for another bag.   While I was there, a manager was talking to the clerk who gave me the second bag, and asked if there was a problem.  I told him what happened.

I now shop there as a last resort.

Just needed a security tag removed from my jeans. Got tossed around between the 2 different stores  (juniors and womans) where no one could help me and had to scout the whole juniors store multiple times just to find an employee, who you guessed it, still couldn't help me.  There was one very nice  woman (from the south which explains the niceness -you don't get that from the snobs up here) in the woman's dept. Who pointed and personally walked me to the security office who had the tool to get the tag off.

For Mother's Day I preordered a fragrance package at another location, but had to cancel it due to being out of town. Tried to buy same package here and they jacked up price by $25. Said," We ran out of the predone Lancome' packages. Since we had to put these packages together we had to increase price." All they did was throw the products in a pink box that was way to big with no other filling!! And they acted like they were doing me a favor by letting me get the little lotion that was supposed to be in box!! I did like Macy's, but I will never buy my make-up or fragrance there again now that I know their dirty tricks!! So disappointing.

Last year I purchased two pieces of jewelry. I went back to exchange for a different size but when I got home only one piece was in the bag. Watch your sales associate carefully if you choose to shop at this retail store. I no longer shop at Macy's.
