Opened in 1956, the Mai-Kai stood alone on the outskirts of Ft. Lauderdale. Now, over 60 years later, our little paradise features 8 Polynesian style Dining Rooms, Molokai Bar, Gift Shop, tropical gardens and an exciting Polynesian Revue.

We went on a Friday night at 9:45 with no reservations. We were not able to watch the show., but the staff sat us outside by the waterfall. We were the only ones out there. It was awesome. Food was great, drinks were great. It was like having a romantic, dinner in Hawaii. Highly recommend!

A very special place.  Great food, amazingly fun cocktail menu, and the dinner show is not to be missed.  Be sure to put this restaurant on your "must do" list!!  The happy hour prices for drinks and appetizers are a great value.  My sister enjoyed a steak prepared in their unique Chinese oven, and said that it was the best she had ever enjoyed.

The service was very good and the show was beautiful but the food was not what I was expecting. I have been to Mai-Kai many times as I am a local resident. Even had my high school reunion there in 2013. For the price I expected the food to be exceptional if not very good. It was neither. I will have to think twice about going back.

I have mixed feelings about this place. Loved the atmosphere, decorations and friendly staff. Food was good.
 You have to pay to park yourself, is not much $3 but still it doesn't make sense. 
Their system to seat you for the "show/dinner" reservation, they tell you to be there at a certain time to make you wait for more than 30 min if you have a large party. Why the reservations if you still have to wait like you are a walk in person.
The show: don't get me wrong the dancers are good, but they do not look the part, a bunch of nice skinny white kids, but you don't feel the traditional dance, they use an extra small stage (maybe that's why they are so skinny)... 
The drummers were excelent! But still I was expecting something more "dramatic" . They did have a highlight the part with fire stunts . 
The girl that introduces each part of the act has such a monotone voice and demeanor you feel like she doesn't want to be there or is very bored with it, she had very interesting facts about the acts but no heart in what she was saying... I just tuned her out, highlight her outfits.

This is real deal tiki.  The food was delicious, the drinks were even better, and the entertainment really makes it a fantastic experience. The decor really sets the mood, and a stroll through the garden makes you feel like you've stepped into paradise. We will be back.
To remember: the parking is valet and dinner reservations are timed around the entertainment
