Story

A Taylor's Maid-Rite is a loose meat sandwich made of finely ground hamburger. The hamburger is cooked and put in a bun, then served with mustard, pickles or chopped onions. And now after 86 years - ketchup is available on the counter!
Taylor's Maid-Rite has been serving its single sandwich menu to central Iowa for 80 years. Each loose meat sandwich is made from the finest 100% choice beef available in Iowa. Ground fresh every day, Taylor's Maid-Rites are a favorite of local patrons and visitors alike.

I've lived in Marshalltown for almost 34 years. I grew up eating at the Maid-Rite and it's always one of my favorite places. The food is always hot and fresh. You get exactly what you ask for on your sandwiches, and they have great malts & shakes. The staff is friendly and courteous. They may not have a kids menu, but any age kid with teeth can eat a Maid Rite!! ❤

One word "overrated" A hole in the wall with very little ambience for such a highly touted venue. Greasy/wet loose meat sandwiches, chips, pie and milk shakes. Best bet buy a sandwich and hit someplace else for fries and a soda. One plus the meat is whole beef, with beef halves butchered in the basement as needed. The state tried to close this place down because their meat steaming process was a cooking tub of sorts with cooked meat on the left side and uncooked on the right with no barrier between. Apparently as the meat cooked it was scraped from right to left and blended together. The owners said "we have always done it this way and no one has ever gotten sick" . Iowa gave them a pass when a bunch of politicians jumped in, but I digress. If you go, order to go and plan on a mess all over your car seat and lap. Jeff

They best and only Maid-Rite to get GOOD loose meat sandwiches! I will never order them anywhere else.

Have eaten here off and on for over 20 years. The food and service is always spot on. My only complaint is that I have to get it 'to-go' all the time because the store is always full of customers. That means they're doing it right, though, I suppose! 2 original Maid-Rites and one Cherry Malt, please!
