We maintain 80 miles of multi-use trails connecting 4 off-the-grid lodges in western Maine. With the perfect terrain for Nordic skiing, mountain biking, hiking, and paddling, there's an adventure for every season.
The mission of this non-profit organization is to provide year-round public access to a 180-mile multi-use trail system in Maine’s scenic Western Mountains, running from Bethel, Maine to Moosehead Lake. The trail’s primary corridor, which runs through some of Maine’s most remote and scenic wilderness along the Carrabassett, Kennebec and Dead Rivers, was designed to promote people powered activities such as hiking, cross-county skiing, snowshoeing, biking and paddling.
A total of 12 four-season huts will be constructed along the trail, spaced a day’s journey apart. Each hut features a main lodge and accommodates up to 42 overnight guests in small bunk houses. Amenities include hot showers, toilets and radiant floor heat in addition to home cooked meals.
Overnight lodging, groomed trails, meals, guided and self guided adventures, off-the-grid energy systems education, ski race event, membership and volunteer opportunities.
