This is a hidden gem located in the corner of a dumpy strip mall. Take the time  stop in if you like Japanese food. The service was excellent as well as the food. Prices are very reasonable.  I wish I found this place sooner.

Im not sure how high reviews are rated but as for our dinner. My ramen noodles look like those cheap instant noodles, broth is good though. My wifes order didnt have kimchi like how its describe in menu. I am just confused about our order. Whoever plans to eat here, im sure they are delicious but maybe it wasnt a good day for our dinner. Im so sorry for bad review. Server is nice and pricing. Im just again confused and disappointed over my cheap ramen noodles.

This was one of the best sushi restaurants I have ever eaten at!!!! Super fresh ingredients and so beautifully presented  Service was excellent!!!Food: 5/5

This place was delicious! The udon had a super clean broth that was full of flavor. The tonkotsu was perfectly crispy and a great portion. The service was also great. The lady who served us was extremely nice and attentive. Decor is also very cute and it feels like you are in the countryside.Recommended dishesTea and Food, Sushi Bento, Miso Soup, Tonkatsu Entree

Manooben was the closest thing to authentic Japanese food. This hole in the wall like literally in the corner, was such an awesome experience. My wife and I are not in the area and was craving some lunch. With the initial Google search, this place didn't come up several times. It wasn't until I specifically types in Japanese food that it was a couple selections down.  Out of all the restaurants, we highly recommend this one. The food reminds us just like when we went to Japan. The restaurant has so much character and you can tell the owner put a lot of her personality into it! We will definitely come back!  Also, we recommend the gyoza, seaweed salad, and crunch roll for an appetizer!

Service was amazing. It was empty when we went but I will be coming back. Amazing food + the service was phenomenal and the price was not bad at all. Such a homey atmosphere. &lt;3

It really feels like a traditional Japanese restaurant. We were the only people that were in the restaurant upon arrival which was odd to us because the food was great and we for sure plan to make a return ! Definitely recommend the hot tea. Me and my partner usually like sweetened tea but this tea on its own was truly good ! Same with their miso soup

Best udon I’ve had in the northwest Chicago area. We came for lunch, the prices were fair, the service was great and the food was delicious! Will definitely be coming again!

So glad that I picked this place instead of going to what appears to be more popular choices across Milwaukee Ave. The manooben bento lunch special was really good and has great value for the money. The person who took care of me seemed very hospitable. I will definitely come back to support this business.

Best rolls around, not sure what kind of magic they use but their rice is tender and super fresh, rolls are not over complicated but very delicious
