Founded in 1952, the Maple Valley Fire Department has evolved from an entirely volunteer organization to one of 54 fulltime employees and approximately 20 volunteers. Protecting and serving the residents of the City of Maple Valley, Covington, Hobart, Ravensdale and the greater Maple Valley area, the Department protects 53 square miles and runs approximately 2500 emergency calls per year. The MVFD is an all risk fire department and as a result is responsible for responding to a variety of emergencies including: structure fires, vegetation fires, medical emergencies, vehicle accidents, rescue and hazardous material incidents.
To provide quality, cost effective, emergency services for the preservation of life and property. These services shall be compatible with the needs of the community and at levels reasonably permitted by publicly approved by funding.
