Best sports bar and best hockey bar on the East Side . Fantastic burgers, perch and grilled chicken. Beer is always ice cold!
MARGE'S In Grosse Pointe isn't the flashiest of sports bars, but it's the friendliest. Here, only the lucky get a table on big sports night - everybody else stands five deep in front of the bar. We like to look at Jimmy DePuy's (co-owner Marge is Jimmy's mom) collection of hockey paraphernalia; he proudly displays a jersey from Red Wing Jimmy Carson's LA Kings days and an old photograph of Gordie Howe that hung in Olympia Stadium. Just don't let the air horn scare you away.
If you do not want to watch the Wings games at home, then this is the bar to be at. For less than five bucks, you get their renowned char-grilled burgers, and their beers go for around 3 to 4$. The standard entertainment features are there: video games, trivia and pool (haven’t seen any darts). They also have a Happy Hour- a clear favorite of so many old-timers. Take note though, reservations are not accepted. - Review from detroitbarsandclubs.com
With its sporty, dive vibe, Marge's Bar is where it's at for Wings games. Fans are advised to bring their appetite. At $4.25, their famous char-grilled, ground-round burger won't break the bank, nor will their beers, priced between $2.75 and $4. There's also pool, trivia and video games. --Review by Jean Johnson on metromix.com
