Store was good, customer service was not. I was in line with one person behind me. One cashier (Anne) specifically asked the person behind me to come to her register as she was opening her lane. This was not the issue. When i started going to her lane, she stopped me and said, i asked her to come over. I had only a few items, while the other lady had many... yet i was stopped. Worse off, the other customer said, let her go first, the cashier said, no. Not to say that the cashier was racist, but the lady she called over was white and i am not. Either case, i will find another store to shop or shop online. God Bless.

Love this Marianos. Fresh food, clean facility, and great prices. The only thing I don't like is that the deli take a forever but they give you the right product just how you ask for it

Stood behind the customer service rep waiting for her to stop gossiping with another employee, the other employee acknowledged my presence and they still continued to chat, the line was getting longer, then she turns and helps someone else. I tapped her on the shoulder and explained to her she made Mariano's lose me as a customer, she smiled. The cashier who was checking us out was the one encouraging us to get a Mariano's card, she too could not understand why I was being ignored, she even told me to tape the lady on the shoulder, which I did when I was on my way out. I threw their reward card out in their parking lot, since they don't have time for their customers. Mariano's carries Roundy items, the same as the discount chain Food4Less in the city. I don't understand the hype and the higher prices for the same items, no stars from me, but I was forced to give one.

Mariano's customer service is very poor, both at the corporate level and at this particular location. I recently purchased some alcohol at this location, but because of the misleading signage and disorganized shelves, I bought the wrong item rather than the one on sale. I realized this while at the checkout line, but I bought it and figured that customer service could work it out since the checkout lines were very long and I did not want to hold up the line. They told me that I could not return alcohol per a corporate policy (not an Illinois law as some people say because other grocery stores around here accept alcohol returns). I had not even left the store yet, and yet I couldn't return it! At the corporate level, I have submitted an unrelated online customer issue 3 times and called their customer service number, but have never gotten a response other than the cursory "We will get back to you in a day" or hold music. I also frequently get errors regarding my rewards card and the website. The only reason I will continue to go to Mariano's is to get the free items on Friday. Overall, I am disappointed by Mariano's; other Kroger-owned stores like Payless Supermarket in Indiana are outstanding. UPDATE: I spoke to customer service at another location, where they told me I could exchange it. I didn't have the item with me at the time, so I went back to the Vernon Hills location a couple days later with the item. At first, they agreed to exchange it, but then the manager reneged for no other reason than the receipt was a week old. He questioned why I would wait a week to return it (even though I tried to return it at the time of purchase and was never given the offer of an exchange then). Fortunately, other Mariano's locations are more customer-focused and I was finally able to exchange it.

What a fabulous place to market!! The deli section's variety of items is extensive and delicious. The store is easy to navigate with plenty of employees anxious to help with your every need. The produce is always super fresh and exceptionally displayed. Oh yes, don't miss the gelato bar to enjoy a tasty treat! I just LOVE this shopping experience!!!
