Story

"All Life Matters" is our motto here at Maryland Avian and Exotics Veterinary Care. We are located at the Hope Center in Rockville, Md. Directly off of E. Gude Drive, just past the old Montgomery County Humane Society. Dr.Lisa Carr is the sole owner and operator of MAEVC. She is also currently the only veterinarian on staff. She received her veterinary degree from the Royal Veterinary College in London.

Her passion for birds, reptiles and small mammals motivated her to seek specialized training with exotic animals after graduation and time spent practicing in a small and exotic animal hospital in the area. Dr. Carr completed an internship and residency in exotic animal medicine and surgery at Stahl Exotic Animal Veterinary Services with Dr. Scott Stahl, an internationally recognized veterinarian.She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the Association of Reptile and Amphibian Veterinarians (ARAV), the Association of Avian Veterinarians (AAV), and the Association of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians (AEMV).

We offer general veterinary care, radiology, ultrasonography, soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, internal medicine, collection management, consultations, home visits and endoscopy.

The species that we see are Rabbits, Guinea Pigs, Rodents, Sugar Gliders, Prairie Dogs, Non-Venemous snakes, Companion waterfowl/chickens, Companion Birds, Raptors, Reptiles, Hedgehogs, Ferrets and Amphibians.
