Masjid At-Taqwa is the Masjid of Bed-Stuy! Check out our info to learn more about what's going on @ Masjid At-Taqwa!
Masjid At Taqwa is THE Masjid of Bed-Stuy!
Opened in 1981, Masjid At-Taqwa has been an outstanding example of just what LA ILLAHA ILLAH LAH MUHAMMADAR RASULULLAH can do to a place. Our community leader, Imam Siraj Wahhaj did not just open a house of Allah SWT but, he also applied Islam throughout this community. In 1988, Imam Siraj and his devout team of members launched an impressive anti-drug street patrol which resulted in the shutting down of over 15 drug houses!
Imam Siraj Wahhaj's diligence, hard work, and dedication coupled with strong followers and outstanding supportive community members, the Nur (light) has radiated throughout Bed-Stuy attracting new businesses, neighborhood development along with a diverse population of people stemming from all over the world. Currently, the population of our members in attendance make over 15 nationalities who actively attend daily prayers, classes, and religious holidays. A beautiful sight to witness, our brothers and sisters from opposite ends of the globe come here everyday and pray together! A true example of Islamic Unity!
We offer free Islamic studies, Quranic recitation, and Arabic classes (for schedules and times please see below). We also offer martial arts classes for brothers, sisters, and children (all seperate). We have free regular lectures by various Imams, scholars, speakers, free health screening dedicated to raising health awareness in the community, sadaqa (charity, giveaway) drives, and free janazaa (washing the body of our deceased) classes. We perform Nikkah's (wedding ceremonies), Aqiqahs (baby naming ceremonies), and have yearly open house events that help to propagate the true teachings of Islam and address common misconceptions often placed on Islam.
So please come join us in our ongoing efforts of making Masjid At-Taqwa a place of Worship, Enlightenment, Nur, Dawah, Love, and Healing, as we strive our best to serve Allah by serving others. Masjid at-Taqwa is the house of Allah, it is our Masjid, your Masjid, help us to live out our Beloved Prophet Muhammad S.W.A.'s mission of Ummah tul-Wahid, One Nation!
