Many times, we rely on the advice from those that we know especially when it comes to using businesses that we have not used before and most times that works. In this case, I can say that it was the wrong decision. We entrusted May Funeral Home in Sicklerville with my mother’s funeral services and the words “disappointed, devastating, horrible, atrocious” are not strong enough to describe our experience. I should have relied on the comments posted on the website because my family and I are now reliving some of those same experiences described. In contrast to some of the comments clients posted on the funeral home’s website, here is what the funeral home claims “Today, we continue the tradition of compassion, personal attention, and professional services that started so long ago”. But here is what WE have to say to you May Funeral Home – we saw no compassion, personal attention, or professional service during our interaction with your business. The loss of a loved one is already emotionally draining but it becomes even more devastating and a travesty when the funeral home has absolutely no compassion or customer service during these times. To describe this horrific experience would mean dis-respecting my mother’s memory in a public forum and I will NOT do that and so I will share the specific details in a VERY long letter being sent to the owner/management at May Funeral Home. I am sure they will be open and honest and glad to share the DETAILS (not our personal information) with anyone who may request to hear about them. Not that they are going to do anything about them. If only we could turn back the hands of time and used another funeral home – then our pain would not be as great as it is now. If possible, the rating would be a ZERO!

My family used May Funeral home to bury my grandmother on February 5, 2018. So many things went wrong that I don’t even know where to begin. I will say that they did NOT make sure that my family was happy with the final touches that had been completed on my grandmother. Her image was definitely tainted and it left me speechless and I wondered if this was the person that I once knew. They have refused to return phone calls or even so much as to offer an apology for the countless mistakes that were made. As long as they were paid, they were not concerned about anything else. “We’ll take your money and leave you dissatisfied” should be the motto! Poor quality of work!

My family used May Funeral Home and it was the worst experience ever. Not only did the funeral home ruin our family’s memory of our love one but they also didn’t care that they did. They made a difficult time even worse for our family when they did not even try to make sure that our family was satisfied with their final work.

I called them to tell them I am the spouse to my husband the very first moment I found out that my husband was there. Mind you I had no idea what happens until my husband was deceased for 4 days. The officials were under the impression he was not married I had no idea of anything and still dont. When the medical examiner told me to call them right away to tell them that I am my husbands real next to kin they were so very rude and insensitive and told me they will not talk to me and that they have nothing to say to me unless I show them my marriage license/cert. I tried to explain that my marriage cert was destroyed in a fire and I would have to travel to get it. I told them I have I.D. with his last name they gave me such a bad time and when I say rude I mean very nasty attitude to go along with the rudeness. I traveled to get my marriage license and cert. I sent it to them via e-mail and message through there website and still have not heard back. My husband passed away suddenly and I'm so very heartbroken. I can't believe I am being dismissws and that Mays even after ms making them aware that I'm his spouse is doing whatsvsd they want without my say. I am going to take legal action when everything is over. This place has no empathy.

They gave a nice funeral, however it's just ALL BUSINESS. They smile in your face and do what any good Salesperson would do...they SELL. Then after they collect their money, to cordial show stops. They did a normal job for the funeral just as well as any other funeral home would I'm sure. But however afterwards they get nasty quick want to comes to collecting the money. It took a few weeks to setup the estate account. But I called them and asked him what was outstanding balance. They gave it to me and I paid it. I thought that was the end of the story. What followed was a nasty pattern of malicious purposes to collect money. They immediately started sending collection letters to my other family member who had nothing to do with the finances. I got to the point where they are now 3 years later, have an attorney attempting to collect thousands of dollars from my elderly family member who has nothing to do with the situation anymore. I attempted to clarify information with them and remind them of the scenario but they don't care 1oz about putting any effort into checking the records to see if they made a mistake. They get nasty with you really quick. It's not the same person that you meet with her trying to sell you the funeral package. It's the other face, the face that they display when you turn your back and they've already collected the check and they don't need anything else from you. I've heard plenty of stories about them now that I've told people my story. It said that you don't know these things going into it. It's more sad that a business that is a funeral home which is representing a sensitive time in someone's life and a scenario where they should be sensitive to understanding their business and that they're dealing with multiple family members and most likely a estate money. I wouldn't feel the way I did if all they had was a little bit of patience and they didn't talk to you like you were arguing with a spouse. They've been extremely argumentative and unwilling to simply check the records. They don't care. And they definitely have an attitude about it if you question them, especially with elderly people. They know that I was the one who paid for everything and I was a contact for everything. But they never contacted me to collect money they went after my unknowing family member and attempted to collect money that was already paid from her and even sold the account to a collection agency which will now damage her credit and she's very upset about the situation. To say the least. I don't need to rant on any further. So all I'm saying is this, I would definitely recommend checking out another company. Integrity is something that they can't sell in their packages. You have this assumption that a funeral home is close to the church and because the church is close to God that they would maintain some sort of ethical or moral integrity when doing business with people. They're just as bad as sleazy car sales people. It's a very unfortunate situation and I've lost respect for not only their brand that they're supposed to be standing by. But more so for the individuals at the funeral home, namely Tony. May funeral home, you guys are disgrace to what you should be representing. You've broken my trust and the trust of my family is horrible that you act this way now that you've already sold your package and did your sales men techniques to acquire what you wanted. Now that you got what you wanted you guys have just been nasty to deal with. Your site is filled with all the taglines of a sales person. It says because "we care" and that you're filled with "sympathy and understanding". That's a bold face lie it's bullshit! I would grab a shovel and dig a hole myself before I ever used your company again.
