Huge park that has a lot to offer. Sadly you can tell that it used to be far more used by the community. It has a cool place to rent paddle boats cheaply and my family had fun on them. Showers are so-so. The pool is no longer open but there is a long drive able path to the Mississippi River. An okay place to stay that is close to Memphis.

A beautiful, well maintained State park. Good camping and cabin options. Horseback riding, an outdoor pool and several trails to get a good workout on while you get your fill of nature. Good fishing options also. Our favorite spot is the Mississippi River view. Love to sit and watch it flow by and see the occasional barge or two.

Shelby Forest is beautiful and partially borders on the giant Mississippi River. The forest is primitive with many roads and trails to explore. Unfortunately, the park infrastructure has seen better times - campsites were short and narrow, and many had steep drop-offs. The dump station was a muddy mess. Park roads are narrow - facilities such as shelters and bath houses needed cleaning and repair. Signage is confusing. I camped here on a weekend and the campground was almost empty. A major storm may have discouraged campers as many trees and limbs were down and mosquitos were abundant. No cell or wifi in the park except at the park office. So close to being a 10+ camping spot - but a definite miss.

We spent the week in the campground. The campground sites where great with lots of space and very clean. The bath house could use some serious work, showers were hot, but hardly functional and just generally broken down. The facilities as a whole throughout the park are need of repair. The trails were clean and well marked. Staff we spoke with were very friendly. The park is conveniently located around 20 minutes from Memphis so great for day trips, but far enough away you feel nice and secluded. Overall greatly enjoyed our stay and the beautiful forest. I just would like to see the state of Tennessee alocate funds to keep facilities as nice as the forest.

We were pleasantly surprised by how clean and well kept the cabin was. We had everything we needed (with the exception of food which we brought) to enjoy ourselves for the 4 days we stayed. It was cold when we visited so we burned a fire in the fireplace. They provided us fire starters and kept our full rack full. The park was beautiful and the staff was very nice.
