I have been here twice for inpatient care and it is truly subpar. I chose to come here again for my surgery because my doctor located on I-35 is absolutely wonderful. I decided that my doctor was more important than the care that I will receive after my surgery. The nurses/technicians seem inexperience and missed the patient sensitivity training. The room was cleaned twice during the 4 days that I was there. Dirty towels, trash filled with vomit, etc, laid in my room for several days. They never cleaned and I felt I couldn’t rely on them for anything since they seem incompetent. One nurse started removing my IVs and I asked her why. She insisted that I was getting discharged, which I informed her that I was not. She didn’t read the entire form and just assumed I was getting discharged. She apologized, but it scary that she could miss these major details. Another nurse tried to hook up an IV since I was vomiting and couldn’t keep anything down. It was hurting and swelling. She unhooked the IV and just left since she didn’t know how to do IVs. She never ask for help from other nurses. It was the same exact experience I had the first time after delivering my child, but I had my family to help me. The second time my family feel ill to the flu and was unable to be there, so it was another horrible experience magnified. If it wasn’t for my trust in my doctor, I would have definitely went elsewhere. I’ve always had great experience with the doctors, but the care by the nurses for inpatient is substandard and horrible. I am giving 2 star because the doctors have been phenomenal otherwise it would be just a 1 star.

Doctors and nurse staff very polite and considerate. Good bedside manner‘s. Only thing I think they need to improve is that when you are paying upfront they need to let you know that is not the total bill. I thought I was paying it off right then and then I get another bill saying it was more that was just a down payment.

Super nice on the inside. Feels like you're walking through a mall. But every store is a doctor waiting to help you.

I am a former Mercy heart patient who tried to get a follow up heart examine. THE OFFICES ARE SETUP SO THAT NOBODY EVER ANSWERS THE PHONE OR RETURNS YOUR VOICE MAILS THEY ASK YOU TO LEAVE. I was tired of this after two weeks and 6 phone calls. I requested copies of my medical records but they never mailed them. I will find a doctor's office who cares at Baptist hospital.

I delivered my son at Mercy in November of 2017. The only reason I’m giving Mercy 3 stars is because of my OBGYN, Wesley Vaughan. He ended up saving my life. After almost 24 hours of labor, I delivered my son via vbac with an on-call Doctor. I received a 3rd degree tear and subsequently contracted Necrotizing Fasciitis. I wasn’t impressed with the Labor and Delivery team. I wasn’t allowed or encouraged to move around the room to use a birthing ball, take a bath or any other type of labor assistance to help with my attempted natural labor. I finally gave in and got an epidural after 8 hours of excruciating pain. I was forced onto all fours by an L&D nurse, knowing very well that an epidural was in place and very much working, in an attempt to help my cervix efface. I ended up vomiting all over myself because it made me so nauseous trying to get myself onto all fours with no help and couldn’t hold myself up due to not being able to feel my legs. Then, after delivery, no one checked my wound or listened to the fact that I was in so much pain for such a small area. The on-call never checked on me. I never saw her again after delivery. They just pumped me full of narcotics and gave me a cream (which made no sense). Once I returned for the Necrotizing Fasciitis (2 days after my release), my doctors were amazing and saved my life. Dr. Vaughan diagnosed the NF quickly and even though he wasn’t on-call for my delivery, he still treated me as if he had delivered my son. He truly cared and acted fast after diagnosing my infection. I was in debridement surgery within a couple of hours of being admitted. After much confusion of how I was supposed to get readmitted, I was shoved into 5th floor triage on a Thursday afternoon. Nobody knew what to do with me. I was finally put in a room and had very little assistance from nurses until after my surgery early Friday morning. I was then moved on a Saturday afternoon because the part of the wing I was in “closes” and there wasn’t going to be anyone to care for me. I spent a lot of time alone with no one checking on me. If I called the nurses station, they seemed annoyed and rude that I was calling for help. I didn’t have an assigned nurse, it was just whoever would take the time to check on me or answer my call. I was finally moved to the oncology floor, where there was constant banging, electricity flickered, rooms weren’t very clean and my sheets were not changed in the duration of my stay for the flesh eating bacteria. The only positives were that my husband and newborn were allowed to stay with me, and my nurses on the oncology floor were wonderful (they loved my newborn being in the room), they were much more patient and friendly than the L&D nurses were. After the nightmare stays, came the bills. The billing department is absolutely ridiculous. They have created multiple accounts for my son and I and I am still receiving bills (like I said, I delivered my son in November) that make no sense. They’re calling me constantly to make a payment, which I am, but then they keep sending me new bills and changing amounts due. I had to pay $230 for them to establish my son could hear, because the test was deemed “out of network.” Although I realize that’s an insurance thing, I don’t understand why a required, routine test would be given by an outside entity that wouldn’t be covered under a major insurance (Aetna) company. And of course you aren’t told this ahead of time. Overall, I just cannot recommend this hospital. I will NEVER go back for anything. I am traumatized from what should have been a joyous occasion. I’m fully convinced that I contracted the flesh eating bacteria while I was staying at the hospital!!!
