Story

The Disneyland Resort, commonly known as Disneyland, is an entertainment resort in Anaheim, California. It is owned and operated by The Walt Disney Company through its Parks and Resorts division and is home to two theme parks (Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure), three hotels, and a shopping, dining, and entertainment complex known as Downtown Disney. The resort was developed by Walt Disney in the 1950s. When it opened to guests on July 17, 1955, the property consisted of Disneyland, its 100-acre parking lot (which had 15,167 spaces), and the Disneyland Hotel, owned and operated by Disney's business partner Jack Wrather. After succeeding with the multi-park, multi-hotel business model at Walt Disney World in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, Disney acquired large parcels of land adjacent to Disneyland to apply the same business model in Anaheim.During the expansion, the property was named the Disneyland Resort to encompass the entire complex, while the original theme park was named Disneyland Park. The company purchased the Disneyland Hotel from the Wrather Company and the Pan Pacific Hotel from its Japanese owners. The Pan Pacific Hotel later became Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel. The property saw the addition of Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, a second theme park, named Disney California Adventure, and the Downtown Disney shopping, dining, and entertainment area.

Disneyland is full of attractions and the Mickey and Friends parking structure is an attraction within itself. The parking structure is massive, it is a multilevel structure that is almost 1/4 mile long and accommodates over 10,000 cars. Be prepared to do some walking to get to the escalators and elevators. Parking is now $20 for cars and $35 for preferred parking which parks you right next to the escalators and elevators. Parking fees have gone over the years, just last year parking fees were only $18. Parking at the structure is relatively easy. Employees guide vehicles to parking areas where it's available. Parking spaces are tandem parking but traffic only flows in one direction so leaving the parking lot is easy. Once you have parked and exited the parking structure, you will reach the security check points where they check your bags and have you go through metal detectors. Once you have passed the security check point, you board the trams that bring you to the entrance of the theme parks.

They are constantly rerouting the parking for handicapped parking due to different security check-ins and tram pick up and drop off configurations. When they are directing you where to park in the morning it is great. After that is a free for all and you have to go down a isle and look for a spot on your own. If you miss the spot you have to go around that whole level again. It gets super annoying.

Love this parking structure , when its available. The Anaheim police department constantly close down the parking structure although there are multiple levels available to park in... Its visible as you drive by that levels are empty/not filled with any cars. Then the signs to the other parking areas are very misleading...causing you to drive around Anaheim like you are on a wild goose Chase...it is probably the cause of many accidents. I've called Disneyland multiple times and they claim they have no control and that its done by the police department to avoid traffic backing up...but when its closed is the only time I see traffic backed up. Like to go to Disney/DCA to stop by for a show/ parade but can't even simply park turns into a 45min to 2hr extra time spent parking.... Very frustrating after i drive past and see levels of the parking structure empty.

I seriously don't understand why Disneyland makes it so hard to park in one of their premiere parking lots. Maybe they want visitors switching to the Toy Story parking lot? I visit the parks often and always have high hopes of the parking going smoothly. There's about 5 to 6 lanes open at any given time and after you pay, the cars are forced into 2 lanes... sometimes 1 lane!! I just don't get it. It creates unnecessary traffic. I give this parking 2 stars because although it has it's quirks, it's sincerely the best place to park.

Best parking at Disneyland. Unfortunately they close off the entrance throughout the day without notice, you'll be rerouted to Toy Story. The only downfall is this is the only structure with electric chargers so get there early if you need to charge. Update: for the next year the 30 EV chargers on Chip & Dale Level 1 have been disconnected for construction. There are now only 15 EV Chargers Daisy on Level 2. Please be courteous of other drivers and only park here if you are an EV who is actively charging. Since there are now 15 of the previous 50 active chargers in the resort it is important to move your vehicle when it has finished charging. The ChargePoint mobile app will monitor the progress of your vehicle and can notify you when it has finished charging. Thank you!
